There are many prototype vehicles that never saw adoption alongside many that never made it out of the R&D stage. Paper vehicles are already apparent ingame, though “What If” vehicles aren’t. What I mean when I say “What If” is as in “What if X vehicle saw actual adoption by the military?”, specifically vehicles that never had dedicated armaments. For example, the Dassault Mirage G was a French prototype swing-wing mirage that was scrapped before it had any testing with weaponry. If it were added to the game, there would have to be a few controversial modifications, such as a gun or actual arms. Due to the fact that it never saw production, it’s unlikely we’d ever see it ingame, however, if we took a “Production Variant” that never truly existed but based off of intent and time period is completely rational. We already see it somewhat ingame with the Ho-Ri Production, a tank that never truly existed but had schematics existing. This post isn’t meant to serve as a poll but rather as a discussion that would help to further this idea before it were ever to be actually considered as it is very shaky. Someone could just say “Well what if the Mirage III V were to be upgraded, couldn’t we give it Magic 2s and Micas?”
uhm FLAK panzer 341 would be neat its a wooden mock up but so is the HO-RI in japan and would fit nicely what they replaced it with ostwind II isnt real wasnt even paper
Wooden mock-ups would be really neat, there’s the Flakpanzer 341, Strv 2000, Object 490, Chrysler TV-8 etc
I’m really not much of a naval player, but having the Montana class battleships (successors of the Iowa class) added to the US would be pretty cool. No Montana class ships were ever built, but all 5 were authorized in 1940 before being cancelled in 1943, so presumably they were at least really well thought out paper vehicles.
if they add those german should get the 20 inch bismarck that they where planning
gaijin tries to minimize the amount of paper vehicles in the game
not really f16 aj r2y2 Ho ri td etc are in what does it matter
Yeah, for sure. And the Japanese would probably get the Yamato, too. (And for that matter, it would be odd to skip the Iowas in the US.) I didn’t mention anything about those since they were actual ships, but yeah, the Montana ships would need balancing for certain.
yeah if they add the yamato its only fair for balance reasons
oh some variant of the tiger 2 was removed some time ago, plus of all the event vehicles, practically none are paper iirc
tiger 2 one made sense the panther 2 aswell but they add something new in one country another country will get it even though they didnt have it irl
okay, why did it make sense in the tiger 2 situation? i need you to enlighten me because i never cared for the old stuff in the game
oh because the gun didnt fit in the tank as it was a napkin drawing basically i rember the range finder clipped into the breech on it. The panther 2 was majority made up
so that tiger 2 was a paper tank or less? same as panther 2? or is the panther 2 different?
the panther 2 was just a hull the descrepency was the turret on it which had night vision which it didnt have and a 88 irl the panther 2 had a extra 10mm of armor and should have looked like the pnather f in game
2 Variants 490 A and 490B. Very different design methods. It won’t however come to the game as neither existed.
The Tiger II with the 10.5 never truly existed. People realized very early on that trying to cram a 10.5 Would damage the vehicle due to the recoil, but due to just how big the gun is, really couldn’t fit in the turret without making it incredibly cramped. So the gun was never mounted, at all into it. For those reasons nor were any possible modifications done to any Tiger II Turrets or even a mockup.
However, the idea didn’t leave the drawing board->E-75. Which was a simplified enlarged design of the Tiger II.
they could add the LOWE heavy tank the thing before the e100 and maus
If you can find me a picture of its existence. Then sure. Except last, I recalled it never left the drawing board nor models and going off current vehicles. The “What if” vehicle event is going for vehicles that Gaijin doesn’t see as something that would be truly feasible in really an average match.
Just a block 10 F-16. Added as a substitute to the XF-2A that we should already have gotten.
V1 was partially built. V2 and V3 are paper though.
Wooden mockup, though there were a couple Ho-Ris half built at the end of the war.
