I would like to suggest the Extra Roof armor for Turret and Engine Deck as a researchable modification for the in Game Panthers, which was a late war development, for increased Roof armor until the next Panther version (would have been F) came to full production which had increased roof armor from the Start. While the F never really went into full production, instead a couple of Panther Gs and earlier models could be seen with 2x 8mm plates on the Turrert roof and additional spaced plates over the engine deck (10-13mm).
In game this would add more survivability against airtargets and artillery alike.
Be it the Artillery module or enemy HE shells directed at the roof or against the commanders copular.
Depending of the effective armor against the incoming shell, it may not offer mutch but if at least it would add to the extra look of the tank.
Over the engine deck louvres additional plates of 10-13mm are mounted on so as that bullets from the top can not fly inbetween, in game the cooling grills are depicted as 10mm armor, as such additional plates over them will greatly increase the protection and may prevent a fire or 2.
I voted yes but like all things Warthunder you improve the tank ,you raise it’s BR and you face cold war tanks with cold war ammo.So why bother really?
I must sound like a broken record here but we really need a top tier cut off point for WW2
now to make the late war heavies relevant and fun again.
I like the idea of the roof armor as an add-on modification to existing panther tanks. I don’t think it would necessarily result in a BR raise since it only affects CAS and perhaps overpressure HE rounds.
I would certainly be up for it if that was the case.
It seems like I am here to pour water over every good suggestion Ghost maxi makes but I just know how this damn game works.They seem to have an issue with a tank being good like it’s an offence to play a great vehicle.
Some people might prefer to not have it since it will put extra weight on Panther and make it slighly slower (which should be a downside like all armor appliques in game). But I would rather have the option to put it or not than not being there at all.
I rather have the tiger 1 track on armor tbh which is still missing for the german one. But seems interesting. Maybe if gaijin reworks the panther models in the future they could add this aswell
