God, stop using auto mod. Only manual three-point guidance. It will make you many times more dangerous to planes.
Sounds like other nations should be given better AA to bring them up to a similar status.
Absolutely this. Instead of trying to crab mentality this topic people should instead be wanting SAMs to be improved or added to match the pantsir (which can already be quite easily defeated by the planes it needs to deal with).
the problem revolves around western doctrine for the most part - we don’t tend to bother with long range SAMs (Patriot and Shipborne systems exempted) because at a tactical level we rely on our own airpower and OCA (Offensive Counter Air - think bombing airfields, destroying HAS structures, etc.) operations to deny the enemy use of their air assets.
There are plenty capable SPAAs to add to every nation that needs a “Pantsir”
The only hurdle is many of those platforms are the advance seeker heads and maneuverability of the missiles they use.
That’s because the Pantsir is not a long range system. WE DEFINITELY DO BOTHER WITH LONG RANGE SYSTEMS, but the Russians are using an IADS system due to their inability to provide reliable and function air support. Operationally there are plenty of western systems to provide similar and most definitely surpassed capability but we lack those in game as of now.
More CAS is not the answer.
But it would end up with less CAS in the end, for the most part?
Anti-Radiation Missiles would solve the issue, pretty neatly. After all their carriage is one less station that carries other A2G ordnance, and as specialist ordnance (most) can’t be used against regular non-radiating ground targets and as such is of no other use which will reduce the number of stowed kills for a given loadout (further increases the expected SP cost per kill as well), and as missiles they can still be intercepted themselves even if they can’t be directly defeated by turning off the radar / relying on EOTS / IRST. The only missile that I can really think of that gets around this is the AGM-122 SideARM but that trades of A2A capabilities and is only really available to maybe three or four airframes (AH-1, AH-64 (Trialed), AV-8, A-6, A-7)
Also their implementation would provide cover for Gaijin to overhaul (lower) the BR of existing Anti-Air Systems as a whole, add longer range systems, and implement / propagate improved automatic targeting methods more freely as they have now have counters.
You could also give NATO our NASAMS… Since Aim-120s are already in game.
And give USA the Ghost Eye: GhostEye® Family of Radars: GhostEye MR | Raytheon
Maybe top tier SPAA should be buffed for all nations, but have limited spawn times (like first half of battle).
Then aircraft are mostly limited to SEAD until late in the mission.
all top tier SAMs should be practically impossible to take down? Be able to destroy any weapon “countering” it? be able to destroy any aircraft within nearly the entire map?
