I think the opposite, after all it is a video game a fictional environment, so why not let vehicles that otherwise never wouldn’t have done anything and been left to die to history be immortalized in war thunder the most accurately they can?
from what I know there was plans to put a better engine, transmission, gun(like the long 88) and armor on the panther and make it the panther 2 yet that never happened even though it probably would have.
so I see no reason it cant at least come back once a year with the Maus right?
There was a Panther 2 hull built in real life. It has none of the things you’ve mentioned other than the armor.
The turret was never finished but it we have documents on the Panther II turret and it would’ve been a 75 mm cannon. The transmission it has is a normal Panther transmission. The engine is also a HL 230 which is the same as on the Panther A, G and F.
Nothing of that was done in the end. And even if it would happen lets be fair it would be so worse than Panther 2 we have in game.
If you want paper tanks that will only open a dangerous pandora box, far more dangerous than one for other tank game.
I don’t think tanks that never got further than blue prints should be added, but tanks they wanted to make and started making yet never happened should be added
the panther 2 in real life isn’t what they would’ve ended up making on scale is what I’m trying to say, the one in the game as of now is the best the devs estimated the production one would’ve been.
which is the same concept of the Ho-Ri production, there never was a production model, there was never even a prototype yet that one is in game while the panther 2 that was being tested in full steal was removed?
idk it just seems weird to me how that had to be removed even though the real panther 2 probably would’ve been similar to the one they ended up adding minus the long 88 maybe, I don’t think they ever wanted to add that to the panther
The panther 2 in game wasn’t the I tended build and the gun wouldn’t fit in the turret, it’s too big and the recoiled would blow out the back of the turret. The same with the 105 on the king tiger, both tanks defy the laws of physics. That’s why they won’t come back.
no. The production would simply never be the same as on game, hell I am sure if they would actually asseme at least one it would be underperforming just as a lot of late war Germany tanks compared to how good it is in game.
They never even put these conponents inside of one.
Yes it was physically possible as a wooden mockup was built. It was not “semi complete” unless you consider the Panther’s chassis being the complete part.
Well paper is made out of wood. But if we are stretching “semi-complete” To include any vehicle that uses a mass produced chassis as basis that opens quite the Pandoras box. But there was probably some components made for the turret.
Those images tho are afaik just a wooden mockup.
I do wish these made-up/paper vehicles returned once a year in the halloween event to remind us of the shitshow that is creating vehicles out of thin air.
