Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Even with this, 2 Torndos in a single ground battle still have the potential to wipe an enemy team. Now picture, 3, 4 or 5 per team and you can very easily see how this cannot be balanced.

Kh-38 is not comparable to FnF Brimstone.

Again, im not sure what this comparison is referring too. Brimstone and Grom-2 are not close.

Im not here to argue about MMV addition, but multispectral, or however it is called, smoke that blocks MMV too exists for years.

As this was the only means to introduce it to the game. It had no historical alternative. Brimstone does, otherwise it would not have been implemented at all.

so… exactly what the russians are doing right now?

`where is the difference if you would implement the brimstone as an IR missle?

This is removing one point from the entire context of why it is not being introduced. It is not one point alone, but a contextual set of reasons.

but they would control like the missiles in the 2077 event from what i think

you cant seriously try and use that as exscuss right? you know more people play the US and Russia which have FAR better CAS jets and more people have them, where is the concern there? can 2 Su34s not wipe out 12 tanks?

not mentioning how russia has the actual best spaa

The differences of Brimstone in its other modes have already been explained in the dev blog in detail.

Is it possible to make a FnF variant of Brimstone available for air sim/air rb players only? I understand completely that a FnF variant would be overpowered in ground battles, but I see no reason why it couldn’t be used in other game modes.

As i said, im not going to argue it should be added. Just saying that a way to smoke MMV do exists.

The opening dev post regarding the implementation of Brimstone was awash with posts suggesting a FnF mode using the same seeker logic as existing IR seekers, as an acceptable trade-off.

This provides a useful missile, supported by a valid argument that multi-spectral smoke already exists IRL and in-game (hence it blocks thermals) and hence provides a reasonable explanation for the MW wave seeker being countered by smoke: it’s smoke with bits of chaff in it.

The comments regarding realism are frankly ridiculous, as there are many compromises of “realism” made in War Thunder already. The comments regarding balance? Irrelevant if implemented with a seeker capable of being countered by smoke (perfectly reasonable), and the payloads of the Strike Eagle and SU39 put a stopper to any argument about range/amount-of-ordinance.

Alas, the decision has already been made, there is apparently no room for discussion, and we poor Brits have a pinnacle weapon system that’s as much use as a condom dispenser in Vatican city.

It is what it is, I respond by simply not buying GE to unlock the GR4: it currently serves no purpose.

Please read the context of what I was responding too.

again u didnt answer, implement mww as IR like the kh38mt or AGM 65G
where would be the difference then?

Sadly, makes no impact on the reason and context as a whole as to why its not been introduced.

Again, that was one element of a complex matter.

Because that is not Brimstone?

all I want is there to no double standered, if the concern is that 2 Tornados could wipe a team, then why isnt there anything stopping multiple F15Es or Su34s from currently spawning with 6+ FnF weapons each that are all better then what the tornado currently has

Sadly no. It cannot be locked to specific game modes in this way.

what u added aint a real brimstone either, again sometimes compromises need to be made
there is stuff like F-16AJ etc etc Brimstone 2 IR as an alternative to MMW isnt to far fetched

Because Brimstone in its FnF modes is entirely different to the weapons carried by the F-15E and Su-34.

This comparison removes all of the context behind what makes Brimstone different and assumes its just the same as Kh-38 or AGM-65, which it is not.
