Will they be getting just the IIR versions or both? If they get both, will they be separate mods or included in one PGM mod?
GR.4 and RVM will have IR only currently.
neat another reason to actually get the tornado thats cool
will they work like the KH38MT and AGM65s where they can only lock the ground from 20km and then once they reach 12km they can lock tanks if they are near to where it locked the ground?
Oh thank god.
I hope the PGM improvement will simulate datalink and target selection after launch. It would be nice to give the Brimstones a fictitious IRH… Since you’re already afraid of the ARH. But that would make life too easy for Tornado pilots, right?
What I’m curious about is how Brimstone manages to drain its battery in 60 seconds if the power to power the radar needs to be on during those 60 seconds?
60 seconds is probably wrong. Hopefully they’ll buff it
Hellfires are 45s iirc and the Brimstone is the same form factor with a 33% battery improvement, it’s not too bad imo
@Gunjob any updates on brimstone flight speed over distance or is it still on course to arrive to the game like a flying noodle after it spent a certain of time in flight 😂
So how potent are these IR PGM’s gonna be compared to the TV ones we currently have?
Yes but iirc the drag of the missile seems to not actually allow it to reach its max range and causes it to bleed speed far to fast
They can be used at night. They can lock onto ground targets from twice the range. The GR.4 has a much MUCH better TGP. And both of them get IOG so you can get a lot more wiggle room for shots over a long distance
IOG will also help prevent them just exploding below you upon launch
Why they really need to replace them with SAL only Brimstone 2s. I think being limited to SAL, the Brimstones 2 would be a more fair counter-part to the KH-38 or AGM-65
Will they also be able to track moving ground targets from greater range?
basically, KH38 but one Mach slower?
Yes, but the question is, will the 20km limitation remain for the TGP? Litening 3 has a great zoom, but without increasing the range it won’t do much good. By selecting a target for bombing, it will be an almost guaranteed destruction (at the right altitude and speed) of the base from 40 km, which is close to the declared range of 50 km. (But there is “LOAL” involved and direct target selection after the drop)
It’s funny that the quality of the TGP played a detrimental role. Ground contacts have less “aura” at a long distance and at a low zoom it’s harder to spot a target than with a simpler TGP. But yeah, the telescopic zoom is something special.
No idea. I think it doesn’t matter for TV guided weapons like the Maverick or Kh-38 but don’t quote me on that.
For what reason? I really don’t know. As far as I understand, CSP is the name of the whole program, and AOP is specifically the integration of amraams?
Can you share the library that is implemented in F.3 on the dev server? There are a lot of new notations that need to be understood.
It seems to me that this is directly related to the radar. In my opinion, this is the most powerful and best radar in the game at the moment.
Firstly, it is very fast. The radar speed is 160 deg/s, which is on average twice as fast as competitors, allowing you to comfortably inspect the field even at the widest angle. And the narrowest sector is generally an AESA simulator.
Secondly, it is very powerful. On average, at the top tier, the radar power is somewhere around 1000 and less. Tornado has 2000. Detect a target and take it for tracking in TWS at more than 100 km? Easy.
Thirdly, I’m not sure that this is a HDN. Perhaps this is a consequence of “secondly”, but it sometimes does terrible things. My record is tracking a target in TWS against the background of the ground from 25 km. For HDN, this is just … Wow. And then I checked something on the dev server… It tracking the Su-34 in STT from 80 km to the rear hemisphere at an altitude of 8 km. Moreover, ignoring chaffs. Only when the Su-34 turns away, then the radar reacts to the chaffs.
So I think the reason why the snail is in no hurry to bring the Tornado down is the performance of its radar.
