Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

As Morvran said its missing the extra pilot guidance but is largely correct. And we have a report in for the pilot guidance.

No , there should be a small circle that highlights the target, there is a report in for this as well.

Don’t know if someone has posted a clip of this yet, I had a quick look and didn’t see one, here is a clip of tws being funky, there were zero radar inputs from me past 0:03. happens in the air as well just in case I need to make that clear

I assume that is using the cyclic target selection rather than the manual mode?

Looks to me like the radar lost the radar contact which was originally selected so jumped to the next one in the contacts list which was lost a second or two later forcing the radar to jump to the next contact in the list which it then held until the end of the clip.

I can’t be the only one who finds the cyclic target selection really bad? Like sometimes it will seem to only cycle between the same two or three targets when there are plenty of radar returns I should be able to lock.

Wait, can you turn that automatic targetting off?

I find TWS in SB a pain as well. I just stick with the Gr1 at the moment

This was manual targeting, you can see me slewing it at the start.

Yes, here’s a tutorial for the keybinds and settings.

Ah thank you

The bug that had been driving me nuts for months is finally being fixed. TWS wont fixate beyond selected range in 2.27.1.41+

Is this a bug other planes have experienced or just Tornado F3?

I have no idea im afraid

was the same on the f14, dont know about anything else though

Would make sense this was a TWS problem and thus all with TWS getting fixed. But you never know

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but do you find it much easier for searching/locking onto radar targets with the manual slewing mode on? I’ve often just relied on ACM to lock targets because I could never get the cyclic target selection to lock the one I wanted.

For me its good because you can go for the target you want, instead of having to change targets until you finally do it. Honestly I only use it in TWS to track someone until they are in a good distance for a missile launch, usually in the start of the match, but then after that I end up only using ACM too. Specially with the F.3/FGs ACM having such a good range.

Anyone know the ranges it’s talking about?

It’s the report Morvran submitted on TWS tracking targets beyond the scope scale you have set.

Glad that didnt take ages to fix. that bug is 70% of the reason why I dont fly the F3 in SB

Further my case to encourage players to report their issues. No report = near zero chance it’s being fixed.
