Nah, it was thanks to the report @Flame2512 logged with the materials he gathered from the national archives, paired with some of the manuals I gathered through FOI. Mad ranting achieves basically nothing.

This is interesting, of course, but on the screen in the cockpit the signatures were different. It looks like just a list of identifiable contacts. For example, the Su-27 was identified not as a “MiG-29”, but as the NATO codification of its radar - slotback.
The cockpit display will be 1:1 (where possible) with the symbology from the manual. The generic third person display is more simplified for regular players.
small question but is there like a central dot in the RWR display? knowing me I’ll struggle to judge how far the signal bar is from the centre of the display
