Packet Loss

I’ve been having serious issues with packet loss in War Thunder since the Spearhead update. It’s not that the problem didn’t exist before, but it used to be rare and occasional. Now it’s frequent, frustrating, and makes progression in the game almost impossible. In air battles, for example, you can end up crashing straight into the ground because of the connection.

Someone explained that our PC to connect to the servers it has to go through the internet highway. Those roads are maintained by different companies and can get congested or under maintenance, which can cause connection issues. That true, but the reality is that before the update it was manageable. After the update, it became constant and disruptive—unless all the internet providers suddenly made changes at the same time, which seems unlikely.

Today, a youtube channel I watch even commented that several players are having the same problem and that it’s becoming increasingly common… isn’t it time for Gaijin to focus on improving the server infrastructure? Instead of adding repetitive vehicles costing tens of dollars, I’m saying this about a game that’s in the top 10 most played multiplayer titles on Steam, having a server offering similar to a game from 2013, that’s kind of sad.
