P40E 1 is the best starter plane of 2.7

Cool story bro. THat 37mm shoots chewed gum balls, ridiculously bad damage plus bad ballistics

Dude, i swear it’s good. Even in ground rb its still capable since the 37 is ok at hitting lightly armoured tanks (of which there are a lot at 2.7)

I never really had a problem with it, although i’ve played most nations air and it was surprising how soviet 20mm does so much damage, where as MG151 is crit after crit

I used it pretty much too, and i have different view on that. Even on full HE belts (USSR cobras have that) it wasnt enough to hit a plane once to remove its wing, sometimes even two hits werent enough. I much more prefered the MG151 which wasnt a good damage dealer too, but was easier to hit.
And them Hispano MK2 are just superior.

Except they aren’t. You get a burst into an enemy and you rip their wing, kill their pilot or engine.

Yesterday I took out the J20 with just two 12.7mm Bredas firing only AP and Incendiary and I didn’t have difficulties getting kills.

Sure they don’t hit that hard but the P-40 has six with higher velocity and damage.

There’s basically nothing better at 2.7.

It takes just one to rip the wing or tail of a B-17.

The only time they don’t immediately kill is maybe when hitting flaps or the fuselage.

I don’t know how it’s even debatable that they aren’t one shotting most of the time when they obviously deal more damage than 20mm, 23mm and 30mm, which all basically kill in one hit to wings or tails most of the time.

And 3 to get rid of 109F or Pe-8. What a joke.

Well, except not.

Like a year ago I played P-39/63 either only using either the 37mm or just using .50cals and got basically the same results, with 37mm being basically a one shot against any target.

Well, my experience tells otherwise. I played many different Cobras, and even best of them (Pokryshkin cobra at 3.0) which shoots basically cardboard planes failed to show oneshots with 37. Not even sayng how bad it is compared to quad 20mil of something like Typhoon. P-63s often made me fight only with 50cals, spending 37 on open-top ground targets.

Although my most recent experience cmes from arcade (i usually use them Cobras in GRB as fighter-attacker, but recently my friend started playing so i ended up in arcade air and loved it muh) when several 37mm hits werent enough to detroy an enemy plane as much as my plane surviving several hits with 37mm, my old experience with realistic ground and air tells the same story.

If you count the 2 from Marketplace also then there are 14 :)

You’re experience, more often than not, seems to pretty much outdated.

The game is constantly changing and it’s not exactly hard to go into a test flight mission and see how the 37mm HE will one shot pretty much and plane.

I may be a person of old principle, yes, but i ought to look out for significant changes in areas i play. So i may forget some BR changes, but rarely fail to notice something like DM changes. And, again, my most recent experience is maybe two weeks old when i was playing arcade air with a friend. 3.7 USSR and US is pretty much Aircobra area

tho maybe it doesnt need proving. It IS one of the good starter planes. As it has good armanment + decent survivability + normal turn rate. Its a good choice for inexperienced player, for sure.

bomber survivability is trash though, i’ve snapped tails off them with short bursts of 50 cal.

I’m on console

It teaches you to not suck, which is appreciated

You still have the P-40F which doesn’t punish you for getting alt at the same BR tho…

Don’t forget to mention that if you even tickle the bombay the entire plane evaporates.
