Out of 27-Sm vs Top Tier

Yes, I mentioned that

i honestly think it would be better than su30sm regardles

Na man…it’s very underestimated how good or advantageous a good radar is so you can see what’s out in front of you. The 27SM with the -1 would still be meh because of the :/ radar. The slower radars did get a bit of a buff because of the radar scan pattern change…BUT, the top radars of the game are night and day better for tracking speed and target aspect change!

Ef2000 is the top dog despite the bad radar

People overhype 77-1 performance. It beats AMRAAM ONLY if enemy doesn’t attempt to make any defencive maneuvers whatsoever. Grid fins and high G pull still gonna make it bleed enormous amounts of energy during flight correction. And we have AMRAAM capable platforms as low as 13.0, even if they aren’t the best in terms of performance. F-15C is currently at 13.7 and it’s leagues better than Su-27SM even if SM will get access to 77-1.

The update has released tho, it was both overhyped and under hyped, its a very good missile, not as good as amraam at range, not as good as mica at short range, but without a doubt a great missile just a generalist one, definetly a contender for top missile. It being fired off a su27sm going fast and high would definetly produce great bvr results despite the draggy fins

That might be true, but don’t forget that Su-27SM just doesn’t have convenient way to guide missile reliably. Player need a lot of skill and experience to manually adjust radar scan area (thank god gaijin gave us updated controls), keep an eye on the battlefield situation and maintain defencive maneuvers if needed. And at the range where you can just use HMD and instantly send missile into an ARH stage R-77 and R-77-1 gonna have negligeable difference.

Really not true <20 is still going to be a significant difference, you got a leas draggy missile with a stronger motor.

i didn’t have extencive testing of 77-1 on live server so i’ll shut up for now, but my gut tells me that below 20km distance you will R-77 will hit around 90% of shots that R-77-1 would hit as well and only in about 10% 77-1 will actually provide an improvement. But i might be wrong, ofc.

You think this radar refresh speed on tracked contacts is bad??? Sure it’s slower on the wider FOV…just change it to narrow FOV 20x4 and you have a fine refresh speed! Watch the Aspect indicator under the contact when I’m in 20x4…it’s jittering!!! because of how fast it refreshes…it’s not ESA fast but nothing to complain about at all!

wow! so helpful!

its not great.

The problem of the Su-27 radar is that it cannot restrict the search field, and therefore compensate for the update speed. already being able to do this would be clearly better

You may need to see an optometrist!

narrow band update rate is more than whats needed for any given engagement

narrowband isnt good for datalinking multiple targets, which you want to do when bvr is your strong point

sure

implying the EF isn’t just better than most things at everything?

My take on the 27sm is that the R-77 shouldn’t ever be fired over 20km at any altitude ever. Which means HMD is king and my eyes/awareness are critical. This last major update they fixed invisible aircraft, it’s extremely noticeable now thank God.
I’ve found that the HMD lock is as reliable as any other, which is good, and as such I can usually shoot off my missiles when I want to again now that aircraft once again can be seen when not spotted.
I will lock one target, fire and move on to the next target while going nto a defensive posture the moment I fire, it is very effective, also look up BadKarma on YouTube to see how he uses the 27sm. (He also might be the best 27sm player in game).

Yes. It isnt. Rafale is better than EF2000 in non bvr scenarios. As for su30sm i dont know we’ll have to see. F15e idk good bvr platform and thats it, f18c missile bus.

are you seeing this yet or do I have to highlight it more
