Osa akm radar

every video i see of osa radar has 25 degrees vertival fvo but in game it has 12. when did they nerf it?

because osa was finally a good sam for that battlerating

25 was a display only bug, it was alway only up to 12.5 degree. It was one of the few SPAA that had bugged displayed elevation value.

interestingly enough the osa could optionally reach way higher elevations of scan, the 2 higher ones being in alternating modes like how many aircraft scan in bars
(but ofcourse we can’t have this on sams…)

Based on the documents i have, OSA has 3 beams of scan, and it cant move them up or down, as they limited by physical radar construction.

i did not mean moving the beams, you can pick what elevation to use and one of the options is to alternative between the 2 higher ones, somewhat similar to how bar scanning works in the interface to you
very useful if sams could have these

the problem is, right now what we have is false elevation choices and no alternating modes
5 degrees
8 degrees
12 degrees

this is non sense, it can go way higher

Oh that is what you mean.
Yes, there is a a manual beam choice, but i do not know the specifics.

What do you mean fake?
Beams going 1-2-3-1… or 1-2-1… are real programs OSA had.

yes it is not like that in game
love fake sams

But it is. The problem with the Beam III is that in game currently it is impossible to make beams different size, so they are kept the same size for now.
Modes I-II-III AUTO and I-II AUTO are implemented. So is manual I only.

then they should implement the maximum

so what you are saying is that the visual beam tracker is glitched

They already did, 12 is the maximum they can do rn. Next one would be 16 by adding a 4th fake beam, and both 16 and IV beam are ahistorical.

wdym? The radar has 3 possible elevation modes you can choose from, 4 (I beam), 8 (I-II beam) and 12 (I-II-III beam).

do you know what auto means in the modes? ingame there is no alternation, it’s fake or the beam tracker is glitched

if you read the document you can tell there is more room to increase the angle to reflect the width better
it never is a game limitation to increase it by the specified couple degrees which will make a large difference considering the ranges this thing operate are obviously more than 1km

it automatically switches beams. It can produce only one beam at a time, so if you are in manual, and you slelect I, only I beam is active. AUTO switches automatically from I to II and back to I

There is no such mention in the document

this is how beams are made in game, you can not change a singular beam elevation. It is beam height in degree and bar count.

give me a second

All 3 positions of the beam are here

yes so whether its unrealistic nerf or a buff of couple degrees it should be a buff

do you understand how these beams work? if they did not have any width you could not properly scan the airspace because they would only be a line of nothing but a 1 degree sweep leaving out all the other airspace scanned, even pencil beams are bigger and this is not about search

and they are not AUTO as alternating but fake and somehow 12 degree mode scans all 3 vectors at once instead of alternating

Yes i do. Do you understand how radar beams works in game?

No, i just posted screenshots

yes and with modifying the maximum you can reach the more realistic elevation and because the 12 degree scan mode is fake and not alternating there is actually only one scan to do all 3 of them, it would not require what you said to make it impossible
it is possible

feel free to post an actual video and ill walk through it so you can understand the difference between auto switching without touching the modes to reduce anything (12 degree mode) and why its fake

Here you go

I even recorded it from the player perspective, so you can see i was not changing scan zones, as you seem to belive i did with the screenshots.

Which proves my earlier point and the fact that there is now no issue to increase the maximum elevation slightly higher as it is in real life due to the beam width
Theyre not pencil beams
Also like i said earlier, this proves that the beam tracker is glitched

Ok, i am doing it one last time, if you fail to acknowledge this, have fun living in your bubble.
This is how a beam looks

This is how game makes beams

ber height is the size of the beam, bars count is the amount of vertical spaces beam has to scan, centerelevation is the middle of the scan zone elevation, compared to predetermined horizontal plane. If it says beam height 4 bars count 3 centerelevation, it means that the game will generage a scan zone having 3 separate elevation bars to be scanned, each will have 4 degree, and the center of them will be at 6 degree. They cant change size of one of the beams. They simply cant. It generates one beam at once.
