OPLOT; inaccuracies, discussion, reports

Dug a little deeper into that document he shared. It appears to be a full 189 page maintenance manual in PDF form. I’m still sifting through it all, but so far I’ve found some pretty detailed instructions on how to replace the ERA, complete with several illustrations and diagrams to assist in the process.

While the document doesn’t appear to be classified, it still doesn’t seem like the sort of thing you should be posting willynilly on a public internet forum, given that it is still an official document with highly specific details about the vehicle. So would you mind removing this comment?

Please provide proof of public release for documents which may not be approved for open distribution

While I can’t read Thai to confirm it, there doesn’t seem to be any actual detailed specifications besides those diagrams about the ERA placement.

Most of it boils down to “This thing goes in that position, and you use these specific brackets to secure it in place.”
or
“This is where that specific piece of ERA goes, and here is the step-by-step process you are supposed to follow when mounting it.”

Abrams maintenance manuals in use by ukraine are classified. Considering these are a translated version of similar documents from the same country, I can not disprove it being classified without stuff saying so. And due to our guidelines we can only allow things we know for sure to be unclassified.

Crazy how many times I’ve watched potential and confirmed leaks happen here lmao

That makes sense. I wonder just how many vehicles gaijin has wanted to add, and has had the information available to do so, but can’t because that information isn’t publicly accessible.

I just asked NiceNiti, one of the Thai translators in the ASEAN suggestions discord, about it and they said

it’s neither classified nor “secret”

I’m still not quite sure though, so I’ve asked them to get confirmation on that just in case.

I know, they are who brought it to my attention. Proof of declassification is on the user, even if there is a possibility it is declassified. We can not confirm that now, and as such it should not be posted until proof of it’s publication is provided.

I find it funny that folks are reaching for possibly classified information when China produced a public patent for a Nizh like a bit ago.

That, and there being a billion cutaway images of the real deal that are publicly available.

I just asked the thai military engineers and they said it was just a basic document.(Sorry, I’m not good at English.)

It’s public for a long time, same as VT-4 manual

I have this docs since 2024, soooo

While it may be just a basic document, it’s still shouldn’t be spread on the public forum as the document has designated its target users and purposes, both of which don’t mention “for the public use”.

Just because it’s on the public domain doesn’t mean that the document itself is for a public use…Just because I leave a pizza on a park bench doesn’t mean that you can have it…

i mean who wants a pizza that has touched a park bench? /j

Regarding the VT-4 manual; we know its still classified.

The BM Oplot-T instructions Manual however is in a gray zone somewhat.

Two layers of ERA were rated at 280mm

But it is unclear why they forgot to add two layers of steel.
