Opinions on top 5 Top Tier Helicopters

I guess the only argument would be that spikes are a bit inconsistent, just what I have heard besides maybe running out a Vilkas a time or three. I would think the geometry of helis would make spike employment a bit different than from gound vehicles, but again, I have no experience so cannot say.

I will say on paper the AH-60 intrigues me. It seems to have all the trinkets outside of an agile flight model. Maybe if I find heli PvE entertaining at all I will grind it, otherwise my Merkava 4s sit in the garage in preference of other, better high/top tier tanks (prefer my Leos, STRVs, Leclercs, Abrams and Challys ), so no incentive to play it in ground RB…sadly.

The Guardian should have stronger engines at least…which if I understand, is one of the advantages people call out for the Apache AH-64 Mk1 for the Brits…along with Starstreaks.

Would be amazing if Gaijin could do something to better represent the Apache D and E’s fire control system…but I guess that is unlikely.

Heli PvE has awful rewards for the time it demands (15KRp/h). For the high tier bracket (>9.3), AI AAs have perfect accuracy with infinite reloads.

There also the issue of the AI convoys that randomly spawn on top of you and tend to travel underwater or climbing 90* sloped mountains.

Not a very fun experience imo.

No one’s dismissing Vikhrs.
They’re just not meta. Not being meta doesn’t mean they’re not good, they’re just not as good as everything else.
And no problem on looking out for you and other new players.
Helping others is what I strive for.

That is what I figured. I do not care about the rewards. I do wish the gameplay was a bit better based on that description.

PVE is boring at best and horrible at worst. More often than not you spend 5-10 minutes just flying around the map looking for targets, only to get sniped by the Gepards or have all the kills stolen by stuff like the Ka-50. It’s a bit better with lower tier helos (9.3 ans below) but you still can’t get the convoys because most ATGMs at that tier can’t outrange them.

At the very least, it’s a very good game mode to play if you just want to turn your brain off for 30 minutes or so. I still play it regularly to cool off when I get tilted playing the other game modes.

Vikhr doesn’t kill tanks very well it lacks damage especially against leopard. Its not the best missile

It works fine, especially since you ability to aim it is significantly greater than lofting missiles like the Hellfire or F&F missiles, which both have their own quirks that rob you of kills. You can almost always hit a leopard in the LFP, UFP from above (so much less LOS thickness), or on the turret roof and get a kill in 1 or 2 shots. From the side or rear of course you should have no problems 1 or 2 tapping one. It is very rare that a tank happens to present a profile with no pennable areas or only pennable areas that do no damage. Particularly against the Abrams with it’s turret ring (though maybe that’s changed? I haven’t played my Soviet line up since the update). Sure, you will occasionally have to spend a bunch of shots to kill something (I’ve had to expend 6 missiles on a single Leopard before in a very embarrassing failure) but the same thing happens to every other missile. The Vikhr has very high controllability so any weaknesses in in penetration are more than made up for in the ability to quite precisely aim the thing.

Mokopas are pretty good until there are foliage in the way, or the enemy starts to deploy smoke grenades.
The Vikhirs are also faster than Mokopas, don’t loft, and have proximity fuse, so they’re better against helicopters too.
The proximity fuse and speed can also be used to destroy jets and drones too.

The Ka-52 itself is a better platform than the Rooivalk, as it can accelerate faster, has a greater top speed, has DIRCM, greater survivability and a better autocannon ( although it’s less flexible than the chin-mounted 20mm on the Rooivalk).
The Rooivalk gets Mistrals instead of Iglas (which are argueably better), but only gets 4, whereas the KA-52 can hold 8 Iglas.

lmfao

Vikhrs not lofting is a negative, as it’s harder for them to hit roofs, which they need if the tank is even semi-aware.
Smoke will obstruct the mk1 eyeball as well.

Ka-52 has air-to-ground radar, so your Mk.1 eyeballs are not needed. You also have thermals Mk.2.
Vikhirs not lofting is more of a benefit than an issue honestly.

A radar that sees corpses.
Apaches also have that.
Vikhrs not lofting means they hit the turret face and bounce.

Lmfao

wrong again at night the range is limited to 6km because of russian tech.

Vikhirs hitting the turret face and bouncing is an issue that can easily be fixed by aiming it yourself.
Apaches having it doesn’t mean anything when the hellfires are worse than mokopas and the rooivalk doesn’t get air-to-ground radar.
Radar can change range and scope, so that you can more likely lock onto an actual tank, especially if you actually direct the radar to the smoked up vehicle.

That is them aiming it themselves.
No one uses the radars BTW since they’re clunkier than just locking.

Then it’s a skill issue.

Can’t lock through deployed smokes grenades.

Neither can Ka-52, but here we are.

That’s why Ka-52 can use radar to aim through smoke.
