Opinions on the XM246?

The problem is, is it has that single ammo belt. The Gepards get APDS due to an “emergency belt” of ammuntion, hence the 40 rounds. Because this only gets one belt total, it means you would only be able to bring an entire belt of APDS.

That does not sound like a problem to be given the fact that it’s marketing brochure directly references it’s ability to use the rounds.

Either leave the APDS off and move it down in BR, or give it the rounds it historically can use, as it stands it is artificially gimped weapon performance wise and is directly inferior to all other KDA equipped vehicles due to it.

the proxy ammo was barely experimental and not ready at all so it cant be added. its a better gepard tbh. more armour, faster turret as well as no wide AF gap between ur guns

it should also have more ammo than the gepard but we need confirmation and documents to bug report
the belt side is way larger

possibly. i suggest looking into IDR

Have you ever even played it? I can survive many hits in it by mutiple enemies as long as it’s not a HE slinger but by the time they see you they would already be desintegrated

Yes and its tankier then a M60 for Mẹ because the turret basket always eat rounds.

Not a good argument against. Lots of things in this game are experimental and/or not ready/functional at all, like:

Yak 141 (No Guns/Radars/Missiles ever equipped and tested)
MiG-9 (Guns did not function on original fighter models at High Alts)
T-34-100 (Gun cracked the turret after firing a couple times)
F-16AJ (Non-existant)
R2Y2s (Planned at most; never built or tested. Paper design fully)
Maus/E-100 (Non-complete; a turret and a hull for testing)
MBT-70/KPZ-70/XM-803 (Experimental Disaster)
M551 Sheridan (Gun-Launcher issues; prone to Spontaneous Combustion).

Not saying you can’t use it as an argument, just that. It’s a poor argument with all else we have in game.

disaster❌
expensive af✅

It can be both. Being expensive AF still makes it a disaster. Plus, it retained the Gun-Launcher tube which was always problematic.

the army wants jack of all trade instead they get master of nothing

I wrote this like a day or 2 after it released on the live server, so the armor was a bit worse than it currently is. It wasn’t that good in the first few days of release but it’s become of of the best SPAAs for the tier. The only bad thing about it is the incorrect radar but it’s pretty good overall.

My meaning was more along the lines that the ammo was either not made by that time (only advertised) or didnt work.
Cuz either way if 246 gets it, gepard can also get it.
But the ammo was mpstly just a proposal.

If you wouldn’t mind it instantly going to 9.0 minimum? Sure.

The Falcon went to 8.3 because of it’s belt, if you really think the XM246 with 640 rounds of full APDS belt would stay 8.3 you are delusional.

It’s a sidegrade. Better armor for far worse mobility.

I mean sure…
If the mobility (less than mediocre) of the gepard was a strength to begin with.

German main moment. Seriously the Gepard has very decent mobility, the Leopard 1 chassis is far better than the M48 chassis.

Are we debating what statistically is better or what we think is better?

The BVM and M1A2 are about on par, the BVM lacks the backwards mobility, and traverse cababilities the M1A2 does, as well as the same levels of depression.
The M1A2 also has better optics no? Personally I find it ridiculous the M1A2 sits at 11.7 right now while stuff like the Leopard 2a5 sits at 12.0
with a worse reload, round, mobility, and arguably armour. However the top tier arguments for the big three really are silly.

Agreed there.

Yeah that as well, right now its far too compressed in GRB you’ve got stuff like the 2a4 and CR1 going up against M1A2’s and T80Us etc.

Reduced gun handling / turret travers ?
Hard agree that having the premium be better than the TT is ridiculous.
Clovis comes to mind right now. Or even the F18A/C being better than the 12.7 F16 for USA.

Yeah was thinking that when I was writing it man, still a small advantage technically

Gepard is one of the best 8.3 SPAA out there as it sits for both AA and TD, the only one I think is better is the Leopard 2 Swedish SPAA but its 8.7

The BVM wins it in terms of optics. BVM has gen 3 gunner thermals and no commander thermals, M1A2 has gen 1 thermals for both the gunner and commander.

looking at it performance wise. Abrams has better reverse speed, reload and gun depression while the BVM has a slightly more RB friendly armor profile and better optics.

While imo the 2A5 beats the M1A2 in armor profile, they should honestly be the same BR. However I don’t think either of them should be the same BR as the BVM.

I think Gaijin could make an entire BR range from the vehicles at 11.7-12.0 currently, let alone with the vehicles at 10.7-11.3. It’s absolutely insane how compressed top tier is.
