You don’t use the mobility to outrun CAS, good players use mobility in an SPAA to relocate to unpredictable positions to not be an easy target for CAS.
However something tells me you are just one of those spaa players that sits still in spawn and waits to be bombed?
I mean the Gepard is pretty decent against tanks combining it’s mobility and APDS. There aren’t always planes to shoot at, might as well find something else to shoot at.
You shoot once and they see you.
So much for that position bro.
Also try finding such positions that wouldnt get u killed by tanks.
Ive seen the XM246 guys charging forward tanking shots and even HEAT rounds all the time.
Its literally better than the gepard.
You wait with shooting until you are confident you kill the plane. If you don’t sit in the spawn CAS likely doesn’t know where you are so no reason to start shooting 4km out.
It’s really not that difficult.
Lot of people have skill issue though. I often see Maus tank so many shots even HEAT-FS, should that move to 8.0 or higher now?
It’s a sidegrade mostly, a lot of people just don’t know how to make use of the Gepard’s strengths.
The only way I could see the XM246 getting APDS or proxy fuse is for Gaijin to add one of the other original competing designs for that program, such as General Electric’s submission (I believe it was GE) which was just the A-10’s gun mounted on a Patton chassis.
So facing a boatload of leopards and the likes, sounds fine to me, the M247 loosing it’s AP rounds meant that it can seldom damage targets anymore, having a SPAAG with powerful general use rounds is missing from the US tree currently until the LAV-AD, and 10.0 is where funni, gun SPAAG starts to drop off hard.
Just a little off topic but do we know which source that Gaijin use to make M247 only able to carry half of HE-VT of its full load ? (2/4 instead of 4/4)
