"One life - one death" approach in wt Air RB vs reality - 2 deaths in 1 match

You might be aware of that killing the same player twice in an Air RB match is an extremely rare event. But this rime i was not really happy as it were 2 extremely cheap kills vs a rookie on his unprotected forward airfield.

I know, i know - scoring cheap kills on forward airfields is just embarrassing, but he was the last player in a 1 vs all, so i took the points. On top of that my recent suggestion “Remove forward airfields” was not approved by gaijin after being pending for 2-3 weeks.

But i was wondering how it was even possible that i was able to kill him twice there and received full mission score points and SL/RP rewards.
So i watched the replay:

Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On

I killed him first at 8:04. For me it looks like that repair timer of the fellow player started to count way earlier. So despite he was “dead” he continued to repair and respawned whilst burning like hell. So i turned around and killed him again at 8:34.

I mean we have a grinding event running - i’ll take it, but whilst watching the replay i checked the vehicle stats of the fellow player. This was his first and only match in this aircraft - showing:

  • 1 match
  • 1 battle lost
  • 2 times killed
  • 1 kill achieved

This can’t be right.

I mean i highly appreciate this kind of fighting spirit but for me it looks like that the fellow player was punished with 2 times using free repairs and ruining his K/D.

From my pov 1 dead for your stats should be enough, i am not sure about being charged 2 times with repair cost.

What do you think?

2 deaths is 2 deaths. I dont think it is an issue, unless you are someone who really cares to pad your k/d or something.

I would assume the second repair would be very cheap. The repair cost starts cheap and slowly increases to the max amount over time. Since you killed him pretty quick, his second repair would of been minimal.

What is wrong with the forward af?

This happened to me while I was playing my Spitfire IX. I mean it makes sense why they implemented it into the game but I will admit it does piss me off.

Thx for your feedback!

I see it more pragmatic. If gaijin offers a single spawn mode this reduces technically seen your potential plane losses to max 1 - same with repair cost.

As the affected player was inside his free repair range (as it was his first battle) i won’t speculate about the amount of actual repair cost to be paid.

My suggestion was based on the fact that at least for prop BRs the forward airfields produce way more harm than they offer benefits. So i suggested to delete them from maps at prop BRs.

  1. A lot of players are either not aware of the missing aaa cover on forward airfields and become easy prey - or they are fully aware of it and look for easy prey.

  2. From my pov the decisive factor in Air RB is based on numbers of players (TDM mode) whilst the fun is connected to your effort to beat the odds like winning totally outnumbered either by playing the objective or you manage to kill your opponents in a somehow fair fight.

  3. This fun is gone when you play 1 vs 4 and you kill 3 of them totally helpless whilst landing / repairing there. Winning this way renders victories even more to purely random events and degrades the quality of any “fair” kills vs airborne players.

  4. You might remember the Golan Heights map - this map had bugged af aaa on their forward airfields for years allowing actually impossible game comebacks by exploiting this bug, my own (and various reports by others) bug report was never processed.

Hope this makes it clear. Have a good one!
