GCAP progress, looking pretty good, similar to that F-22 bomber concept imo

I hate it. We will see how the actual demonstrator looks in 2027.

hmmmmm

Why do people keep posting this fake leak. Think abt it for 2 seconds will you?

Rafale = Typhoon

would be totally stupid for us to get the CF-18 instead

Only thing I kinda believe is the Su-24

I mean who else is going to get the CF-188?

Choice A) Typhoon
Choice B) CF-188

Which makes more sense to get in that hypothetical update?

Just something to ponder, ofc it’s reaching and the only reliable leaker is the Chinese bloke but could the Canadian hornet be next patch? Possibly, got aim-120 now. If it does come is it a 50/50 toss up between USA and uk trees? Which version, A or B?

Yep common sense would be typhoon at the same time as the rafale, then again gayjim…

The 18 is a strange case, because pretty much any reasonable person could see it going to Britain, but that would make the people who want the Iranian tomcat in Russia go apeshit.

It’s just a weird list because the EFT would likely come with the Rafale, as well as the J-10. Also France and Sweden would get a magister. The “gErMaNy SuFfErS” people would go crazy not getting a new top tier jet as well lol.

I think we may eventually get CF-18 simply because there is no logical reason for it to go anywhere else. There is a reasonable and valid argument that the RAAF FA-18 with ASRAAM should go to the US TT perhaps as an event vehicle purely because it would be the only thing with ASRAAM they would have a claim on. But the CF-18 is just a reskinned F-18 that they would already have.

and Yeah, a Delta-Canard update would be awesome.

Rafale
Typhoon
J-10
(Anotehr Gripen?)
etc

Or rather than CF-18 they could get the RAAF one because it has ASRAAM and the usual commonwealth and royal family and colony stuff (After all it is the ROYAL Australian Air Force)

It’s also the Royal Canadian Air Force. Both are commonwealth nations and share the same royal family.

Yeah I was just kinda saying it might be a little more unique compared to C+P with new name

I mean only the 80s is C&P, so 80s F/A-18A is what it’s a C&P of. However, Canada has done plenty of domestic upgrade programs since then.

Besides Australia can provide Super Hoernts well, and Canada can only do legacy. So I’d rather it be Canada for the legacy Hornets than we get Australian Super Hornets.

(Besides CF-188 sounds better than (roundel)F/A-18A)

Lol yeah

Overall I think the CF-18 is the most likely, if any are added that is. But you can never rule it out.

RAAF Hornet

(Pre-HUG F/A-18A equivalent)

Hornet Upgrade Program (HUG)

HUG P1: ASRAAM
HUG P.2: APG-65 → APG-73, JHMCS, Link 16, ALR-67, LITENING.

CF-188

(Pre-IMP F/A-18A equivalent)

Incremental Modernization Project Phase (IMP)

IMP I: APG-65 → APG-73, AIM-120, APX-111 IFF, AYK-14 mission computer, AYQ-9 stores management system, MIL-STD-1760 interface, GPS/INS.
Other: New IR sensor, glass cockpit, NVD’s.
IMP II: Link 16, JHMCS, upgraded EW suite, ACM Instrumentation System, Integrated EW Support Station.

Hornet Extension Project (HEP)

HEP I: AIM-120D, ADS-B, Honeywell GPS/INS, Sniper upgrades.
HEP II: AIM-9X blk II, APG-79 AESA radar.

To make it clear as well for everyone else the Aussie P.2 and Canadian IMP II are both F/A-18A+ Equivalents. NOT the C. C had better engines. Furthermore I will refer to the HEP II as the A++ model.
