Something I just learnt is that the AI planes in WT have a rubberbanding mechanic that allows them to catch up to you, even you are going well beyond their rip speed/max speed. I was on dev, going 1450 IAS in my F-111, and 2 J-8Bs randomly started to go super speed and caught up to me very quickly despite them ripping at 1365 IAS.
This might also explain why AI planes are so fast in ASB.
Yup, they’re governed by time to waypoint rather than physics, and basically sit on rails.
