A World War II pilot is reminiscing before school children about his days in the air force. “In 1942,” he says, "the situation was really tough.
The Germans had a very strong air force. I remember, " he continues, "one day I was protecting the bombers and suddenly, out of the clouds, these fokkers appeared. (At this point, several of the children giggle.) I looked up, and right above me was one of them.
I aimed at him and shot him down. They were swarming. I immediately realized that there was another fokker behind me."
At this instant the girls in the auditorium start to giggle and boys start to laugh. The teacher stands up and says, “I think I should point out that ‘Fokker’ was the name of the German-Dutch aircraft company”.
“That’s true,” says the pilot, “but these fokkers were flying Messerschmidts.”
Would anyone recommend traveling for Duxford? I live in western USA, within driving distance of the Warhawk air museum, but I’m not sure how much better Duxford may be than that?
Is it worth the flight? I’m sure I would do other things while in England, but that would be my highlight I think
It’s a great museum, the only real issue is Duxford is a bit out of the way, from London taking the quickest route (presuming you don’t want to rent a car and grab a train) is about two hours forty minutes one way, so if you’re planning to base yourself in London for a bit (Which isn’t a terrible idea given the Science Museum (Free), Natural History Museum (Free), IWM London + HMS Belfast (Paid like IWM Duxford) & British Museum (Free)), you’d end up having to make a day out of it.
If you rent a car for a day or two though it shouldn’t be too terrible of a drive, takes about an hour to an hour forty to drive depending on traffic (from Heathrow, bit more from the centre of London due to traffic). Could probably do the Fleet Air Arm museum and the Tank Museum too if you don’t mind renting the car for a bit longer. (Both of which would require a bit of a complex route train wise). Defiantly don’t rent a car for London though, that’s just a waste of money.
I have banned as many of the air DOMINATION maps as I am allowed. They make no sense. I don’t know what I will get before I enter and I need to upgrade my bomber so I enter the game and there isn’t a SINGLE BOMBING TARGET ANYWHERE!!! There is also an unmarked ceiling which, if you exceed by 1 foot, you are no longer gaining points. It can be a fun free for all in low-tier dogfights but I don’t have ANY lineups that are nothing but fighters AND I DON’T WANT ANY! I am sick of entering games with bombers which, if I want to keep playing, I have to hope (if I have gunners) I can do something before dieing and respawning. It’s especially infuriating because it seems like 90% of BR 2.0 and less is nothing but domination. I don’t want the drop my 500-lb and two 100-lb bombs literally ANYWHERE because they are literally nothing but deadweight.
How do you make a thread? I have tried, and once I finish it I am given a message that says a moderator will have to review it before it is posted. So I wait, and nothing happens. I am not told what happened to the thread, and it is removed from my activity page. What should I do? I have tried posting this one thread twice now, and I’m not sure if the moderators are shooting it down (it’s about EMP’s)
Edit: this is over the course of multiple days that I waited, I’m not just being impatient or something
I guess my real question is “What is happening to my topics?” I also get these notifications around the same time my post disappears from my activity page
Decided tot axe off to the hangars/tents to end my last match and I learned that Tunisia in prop bracet sim EC has jeeps and a car of sorts on the runway.
