as you can see here, its bigger than most russian tanks, but inhabited area is much smaller, just the side areas with APS and the turret bustle are more massive, but again, smaller than western tank’s bustles
P#t!n on his way to sign the Mi-28 contract over the Ka-50 and to sign the T-90M contract over the object 640
T-90M and Obj.640 have no link; that would be more likely T-80BVM or Armata (as public sources say the B.E. design experience was used while designing T-14)
Whar
also I think that turred may be a bit problematic for crew, even compared with driver hatch
(based on other game model but ehh thats all we have for now)
Well you cant have a tank with 360 degree protection this solution is better than other T-series tanks with the autoloader beneath the crew, yes you have better ammo protection but its high risk factor for the crew. I think the burlak design is better than this. The burlak turret is unified and offers better frontal protection. I would personally go for the burlak tank rather than this concept or the T-90.
However, a merger between T-14 and a more powerful turret (much better armor) would be the ultimate solution.
why would you need armor for uninhabitated turret?
Because it still containing loading mechanism with the gun itself and good chunk (if not most) sensors and optics?
Exactly thats why you need a better protected turret, sensors ,optics, loading mechanism , how are you going to replace those on the battlefield? They need to be protected, not to mention that if turret penetrated it could reach the separate ammo compartment.
Ok if the T-14 tank is to operate 7 to 10km distance then it might be ok to have a lower protected turret.
so after an argument in TE server I was forced to believe that obj.640 indeed has the longer hull, it’s hard to confirm the theory that it helped to increase the driver hatch’s armor, but it is definitely elongated somewhere either right behind the turret, or behind the engine radiator deck for about 700-1000 mm… If gas turbine engines have radiators. Nonetheless, it’s indeed almost a meter longer than regular T-80U. Im convinced now.
Also, it may have smaller turret ring than regular T-tanks as the turret compartment is much smaller… Of course that may be an overlook but it’s not impossible judging by how small it really is, when you look at the possible area of where crew can and can not exist (e.g. these niches right to the left/right of gunner/commander hatches)
IIRC there was two mobile prototypes, one of which is indeed with elongated hull
late one, yeah, the first one was just T-80U with the new turret. New one in fact got better side protection, with 5 ERA blocks on each side instead of 3
guys, move to the respective Armata thread please, let’s focus on Black Eagle and his turret and ERA
Anyway, I decided to adapt war thunder 3D model (Swedish T-80U) to look like Black Eagle (copying existing assets and using the turret from another game AW; and elongating the engine deck, as I suppose that is where the tank is most notably longer). As long as if we imagine it is properly textured, looks pretty nice. In fact, I think it’s not even long enough, as it’s max 7.7 meters even with rubber and external details, while wikipedia says 7.8 m and only includes hull.
Nice modeling of the tank, can you pass it to developers? For ERA you can use the Relikt era and base turret values use the T-80u that would be more or less acceptable for our winter event vehicle. Hull armor values keep the T-80U with extended era armor on the sides.
It takes like 30 seconds to repair
due to being multi layered it can come out more effective than Relict
it has same sabots as tank made back in 1990s, so like, 3BM46. And there is no evidence of it having 1400 hp engine, it may have been installed on serial versions (I talked to a more experienced Obj.640 person and it indeed may have also had 152mm gun, Drozd APS and reworked hull armor, but those were all mockups), not on either of the prototypes. Russia still uses 1250hp engine to this day seen on T-80BVM.
If judging realistically, we can only hope for good reload rate. At least 6 seconds, but 5-4 would be just amazing
Black Eagle turret is very different from that of T-80U. It probably relies more on ERA and APS protection rather than armor, or it has good chunk of it maybe right in front of the gunner optics
Maybe it could look like that, with the armor itself
There are approximate armor values for these areas
I see, what about the base frontal armor , it terms of thickness it looks similar to the t-80U in some frontal areas , probably the materials that it is composed of are different? But I like the drawn images you provided. Is there an already drawn up model in our game. If it is planned to come in, some one must have already composed a model of it in game files?
I truly enjoy the color of the tank and the frontal appearance it looks menacing.
