I have seen a video of the MZ autoloader operating in 4 seconds??!?!
can you share it?
it never was supposed to even have the 152 mm, its fake from a book. Cactus was made between 1985’s K-5 and 2005’s Relict and it looks closer to the latter one, so I guess between their level, leaning forward to Relict
From all I can find Kaktus refers to Relikt itself in its freefloating nature, with no attempt to ever develop ERA for the '640 being done.
well, Relict couldnt exist so early back in 1997, so… There are only speculations
The first application of it was in 1999, with widespread use from 2002-2005… Wouldn’t say it’s too off course for a vehicle that was only publicly displayed 2 years prior with a turret that was nothing but a cardboard box.
all I heard of it being cardboard is rumors not confirmed with anything. So Relict was made earlier than 2005? Guess I found wrong source that time. Is there no actual official info of when Relict was first manufactured? Of course it would be great if such an early tank has such a great (in game terms) ERA kit for the turret, but… Seems off
I just found a Russian book regarding modern tanks protection (2007), it’s written by V. Grigoryan, and some website I found shows a photo of Russian ERA designers, on which there is also a person named V. Grigoryan… In his book, he mentions Black Eagle but doesn’t mention the ERA name, just mentions it’s an integrated ERA type of protection. If it’s the same person, it means lack of knowledge regarding the ERA name or just a secret/unnamed thing that was later to become publicly known as Relict? Anyway, I wont be making up new theories but continue my research
Even went to the lengths of the sheet-metal cutouts of Arena fixtures.
There isn’t much as to when it started production, nor when development officially ended, but 4S24 itself had been used in some armor packages dating back to late '99. To my knowledge development of such packages were in '97.
Better sources than I’ve seen other people with, great find.
If you look to other plans of the vehicle (I think I’ve mentioned some earlier in the topic), you’d see the same conclusion. During its development is simply detailed explosive reactive armor and composites, though it’s pretty clear it never achieved either for the turret.
I wouldn’t mind shoving Relikt on it for the sake of it, though ;3
I went off to discuss when was the Relict made to Tank Encyclopedia Discord and also made a visual comparison between K-5, Cactus and Relict… None match so I don’t know what to think at this point
so, they redirected me to this patent, which is apparently Cactus and it’s rather multi-layered rather than just explosives and two plates like in Relict
Well this diagram could be used as a reference for creating the explosive reactive armor on the turret cheeks for object 640.
Nice find👍
the autoloader looks kinda weird without all of the extra stuff on it
also given the size its gonna get penned ingame alot
video is publically available pretty much everywhere…
it is smaller than Leclerc’s turret bustle, so it isn’t that big
yup
still looks kinda weird for such thing
