so, they redirected me to this patent, which is apparently Cactus and it’s rather multi-layered rather than just explosives and two plates like in Relict
Well this diagram could be used as a reference for creating the explosive reactive armor on the turret cheeks for object 640.
Nice find👍
the autoloader looks kinda weird without all of the extra stuff on it
also given the size its gonna get penned ingame alot
video is publically available pretty much everywhere…
it is smaller than Leclerc’s turret bustle, so it isn’t that big
yup
still looks kinda weird for such thing
as you can see here, its bigger than most russian tanks, but inhabited area is much smaller, just the side areas with APS and the turret bustle are more massive, but again, smaller than western tank’s bustles
P#t!n on his way to sign the Mi-28 contract over the Ka-50 and to sign the T-90M contract over the object 640
T-90M and Obj.640 have no link; that would be more likely T-80BVM or Armata (as public sources say the B.E. design experience was used while designing T-14)
Whar
also I think that turred may be a bit problematic for crew, even compared with driver hatch
(based on other game model but ehh thats all we have for now)
Well you cant have a tank with 360 degree protection this solution is better than other T-series tanks with the autoloader beneath the crew, yes you have better ammo protection but its high risk factor for the crew. I think the burlak design is better than this. The burlak turret is unified and offers better frontal protection. I would personally go for the burlak tank rather than this concept or the T-90.
However, a merger between T-14 and a more powerful turret (much better armor) would be the ultimate solution.
why would you need armor for uninhabitated turret?
Because it still containing loading mechanism with the gun itself and good chunk (if not most) sensors and optics?
Exactly thats why you need a better protected turret, sensors ,optics, loading mechanism , how are you going to replace those on the battlefield? They need to be protected, not to mention that if turret penetrated it could reach the separate ammo compartment.
Ok if the T-14 tank is to operate 7 to 10km distance then it might be ok to have a lower protected turret.
so after an argument in TE server I was forced to believe that obj.640 indeed has the longer hull, it’s hard to confirm the theory that it helped to increase the driver hatch’s armor, but it is definitely elongated somewhere either right behind the turret, or behind the engine radiator deck for about 700-1000 mm… If gas turbine engines have radiators. Nonetheless, it’s indeed almost a meter longer than regular T-80U. Im convinced now.
Also, it may have smaller turret ring than regular T-tanks as the turret compartment is much smaller… Of course that may be an overlook but it’s not impossible judging by how small it really is, when you look at the possible area of where crew can and can not exist (e.g. these niches right to the left/right of gunner/commander hatches)
