Object 279 issue

After this major update, I played 2 days of Object 279. Now I am wondering there is any bug related to its armor? Or has the armor been fixed to normal?
I am saying this because:

  1. T58 can hit object 279 anywhere, and object 279 will be destroyed with just one hit.
  2. The object 279 now defaults to join BR 9.7-10.0 in most cases. After this update, I feel the Object 279 armor is completely useless now. I am not saying it can take APFSDS, before the update, I would say a 50-50 chance I can survive from it. But now, 100% instantly killed by any APFSDS.

I don’t know if I just playing stupid or is there an actual bug?

Anyone noticed?

Its part of the anti soviet shenanigans goin on during this update due to “abramchik” complaints.

There is no bug.
Object 279’s armor was always lolpenned by HEAT rounds since introduction & ammo racked.
It was never really as armored as IS-7, and it only became 9.0 to begin with due to hyper aggressive skilled players in 279 doing well.

their no bugs but the armor is wrong and need to be fixed
object 279 set at high br of 9.0 if mr snail fix armor it will be better at 9.0+

It’s actually doing extremely well still if we go by stats for May. Outperformed the T-58 by a long margin. The 279’s player base does a good job of keeping it at 9.0.

Dude the Soviet winrates from 8.7 until 12.7 are at an average of 40%. Getting the 279 one shot fraged by T-58 a 25 dollars tank is just the cherry on the cake. It is only the highest tier which has barely a positive win rate.

We are talking vehicle on vehicle statistics. It’s fairly obvious the Soviets lack both vehicles with thermals and CAS aircraft around this br which is why they suffer overall. The soviets finally got something to use for CAS at 9.0 with the Yak-130. Before that you had to run a Su-7 or Yak-38 which don’t even have guided weapons and are at BR. 9.3. The true last place at this BR. is Germany who barely even gets into the 40% win rate til 9.3.

I think a bigger issue is mobility and reaching key places on the map, Soviet tanks at those brs can’t do that, for me thermals in general are a side grade (at thaose brs 8.3-9.3)but mobility and able to detect a tank and an excellent reload rate play the biggest role in this current update.

Besides top tier at the very top I find it extreemly hard to play the Soviets, yes the 6.0 to 7.7 I can do it pretty well but come the 8.3 and above until 12.3 I can barely do anything.

Soviet tanks have a steep learning curve starting from version 9.3. First, positioning is key, you have to know where to position your tank, know when to advance, and anticipate when you’ll need to retreat. Large maps favor them, but smaller maps or city maps don’t due to longer reload times and turret rotation. Their mobility is decent once you get the modifications, but you’ll never be able to retreat from a standstill, just throw smoke and turn the tank around completely. Their armor is their strong point, but I’d say they’re excellent, perfect.

Mobility is a huge factor for sure. The 279 started life with having both the BMD-4 and BMP-2M at its br bracket which allowed for complete chaos. It’s just funny that the 279 is one of the more mobile soviet vehicles from 8.7-9.3 at this point. I still play the 279 like the day it came out, and still haven’t had a huge issue with T58s. I find that the new owners of them are fairly braindead when it comes to killing things. On Tunisia, I killed 3 on the bridge coming into town, because all 3 of them wanted to prioritize a T-72A hiding behind a dead tank.

Not my clip, but it seems like 279 has extremely weak armor, maybe an armor hole, near the lower sides.

Seems like that issue is back. For a long time the M247 Sergeant York could kill it through the turret ring with overpressure.
