I’m really unsure what the idea behind this event was, and I have 2 main critiques for it. Now things could still be added or changed, and I hope they will for this gamemode.
Firstly is the lack of info. For context, I play almost exclusively with tanks. I’d love to play with jets as well, but that’s such a long grind away that I can’t really, and I don’t want to lay down a day’s salary for a single jet. So these events would be perfect right? Well no, because I can’t play them, because I have no idea how high tier aircraft and their systems work, or what keybinds I need. Now there technically are tutorials for this, but to access these you need top tier aircraft. So I stand basically no chance when playing now unless I do extensive research, which all needs to be looked up externally.
Now for my second point. Tutorials and how these aircraft work I can look up and teach myself. It’s very frustrating and annoying, but there is technically something I can do about it. My second complaint is a lot more direct:
How is this mode different from the recent SEAD event exactly? It feels exactly the same, now just with 2 extra bombers. April fools events used to be super creative and intuitive, it was often worth it to install the game for these events alone. And now we get a reused gamemode that’s very similar to the base gamemode to begin with, but with 2 extra aircraft? Really? That’s all the creativity you could muster?
I was really hoping for something good this year, especially the last 2 April fools events didn’t hit that hard either, but we just continuously keep getting less…

waiting more than 5 minutes to get into a match, radars not locking onto planes at all, agm88 going into space instead of radars… insane lack of quality control
Well. Did the event for 5 minutes, and got bored playing such a rubbish lineup of aircraft.
Next time, include the other 8 nations in these events. Id have quite happily spent an hour+ doing SEAD in an interesting aircraft, but cba to even look at this event playing such dull airframes

Just getting sniped by AI and can’t really seem to retaliate
So after 2 matchs of the event, here are my opinions.
• Overly hyped during the first match. (OMG I’m going to fly big bomber!) (Sadly kid, You’re not.)
• 2500 points to too far out of reach and with SAM targets having terrain avoidance; OKA I’m staring at you; you arn’t getting close to it. By the time you see a slim chance of getting close to spawning it, Enemy team is either all gone or your team has all left.
• Some aircraft are unfair against. Playing my F-15 against a new player who’s never played jets is kinda an F you in providing fair play. Mig 29 also suffers this unfair advantage.
• Matches being rather unengaging is just downright demoralizing when you can play something else and have more fun. Basically this game mod is a giant "Spawn, fly, get close to dropping bombs, Opp!, you get smacked by a SAM. Do it all over again. 30 mins of back and forth is just boring after the first 10 mins
• This event is more for testing. Don’t expect much
Warthunder used to have some rather fun April fools stuff. The WW1 event, My Little Pony, Potato Tanks, Walker Machines, The Dune game mod - Future thunder, The Alien event, Space thunder, Just to name a few. This doesn’t have any of that charm that the old april fools events had. I’ll GE the bombers just to get them, but this event needs some heavy rework. That or bring something to tag team it with such as the Cartoon event.
Again, these are just my opinions. Take it with a grain of salt.

I rippled off 4x AGM-88 as decoys then gunstrafed 3x SPAA before getting shot down, but thats as much effort as I could be bothered to put into this event
They struggle with ARMs launched from 20km and below.

Odd, they have hitting mine when fired further than 10km out.
yup. also seems like the AI are keeping their radar off until you are within range.
the points don’t add up when you finish a match
and also some planes need to be taken out of the rotation like the F-14 IRIAF

One of the worse april fools event. Top tier airplanes are too niche. Half of the players in my team doesnt even know how to launch AAM.

first game i played is round about 30mins later finished. i got my points.
In an event ostensibly dedicated to them, this part is just absurd. In the Great War event you were at least actually using the vehicles you would unlock. They should have made bombers the focus and gone over the top with the nuke stuff instead of gating it behind an SP cost that requires (apparently) something like 20 air to air kills to get.

i have played 2 matches now, around 5k points each and no points in my task
