I hardly see a reason to not allow my mig-25pd.
I really like the concept. It’s fast-paced, fitting, feels genuinely like a nuclear escalation scenario even if it’s only an April Fool’s event. It’s as close as we’ve got to RB EC to my knowledge. Good selection of ground targets, static and mobile and guarded by a variety of SPAA, takes effort to avoid dying to them which is a breath of fresh air.
Unfortunately the event is completely unbalanced and pretty much unplayable for people that don’t have top-tier aircraft for the two nations. The base aircraft suck and are SP/SL pinatas for those that have their own(F-15, F-18 lmao). On another note, sweaty players aren’t even bothering with ground targets - just using it as pitbull dogfight simulator. There’s no ground target defense, just people strafe camping airfield spawns and shooting you down with a missile before you have enough airspeed to pull a maneuver.
I have no idea how long this will stay around as I usually don’t bother with the april fool’s events, but if it’s here to stay for a while I really hope they restrict the event to provided aircraft only. As it stands it’s unplayable for those without USA/USSR top tier.
Gaijin really did a great job this aprils fools event, I would even consider it better than Warfare 2077 or the infantry april fools.
Its not only fun, but they also made the tasks easy to complete so the people that have a 48 hour weak job can actually obtain these 2 iconic vehicles!!!
Although I would make some observations, and that would be having vehicles fixed to use, because a player that does not have US or USSR air TT researched (like me) have a huge disadvantage against players that brings their own planes like Mig-29, Hornet, F-14 IRIAF, etc; which also have way better armament and radar than the free ones (like fakours, IRCM missiles, etc).

i agree that being able to respawn makes air RB much more enjoieable and the event being reasonable to grind is good but the event is near unplayable for me as aussie servers are shit and the fact that most people are stuck with shity planes while others can bring top tire fighters and seal club is anoying

Yeah I want the bombers but I won’t be getting them because I cannot be bothered to play the mode where I just get anihilated for not having high tier US or soviet planes. It just is not a fair mode while all the previous april fools modes had no such barrier for entry.

Yeah it’s just top tier planes hunting stock ones, not to mention powerful spaa, regular event are far better than this mess

Tbf I don’t think the free jets are stock but it’s still 13.0 planes killing 11.0 ones whoch is unfair as hell since we already know 13.0 is compressed to hell and back.

it surely is better. Its a great game mode. That has some balance problems as for now, but overall gameplay makes me like air battles.

Amen. Having them LET people use the planes from TT that are VASTLY HIGHER BY BR is a joke, idk why they even decided that. That broke balance

I really dont understand how they could fuck it up this bad.
Would it have been that difficult to allow people to bring their own planes from other nations? Instead of locking it down to USA vs USSR only? as if there arent other nations in the game.
I can see the use of the default planes, as nuke carriers and anti radiation missile carriers, they still can be useful.
But it turns into a baby seal clubbing match for the F-14s.
At least the Mig-29 has a shit airframe and the F-4 can put up against it fairly well.

Here is the strat that works for me using only the free jets:
- Spawn the phantom with aim9l, mig23 with the R23T.
- Fish for kills until 250 sp.
- Use ccip (big grey target on ground) or ccrp (click on map with red bracket then enable automatic release then line up with green line then hit mach 1 and from 20km out pitch up while holding down secondary weapon release) to toss the 5kt nuke at the least defended bulk of tanks and spaa.
This got me the 7k score needed in like 90 minutes using the f4 and the mig23.
Others in sim discord got an alternative:
Use ballistic computer and ccip with zuni rockets to strafe ground targets as u.s until 250 sp.
Nota bene: if you survive the nuke run you can rearm infinitely

Just any players without US / USSR aircraft that high. It really should’ve just been either fixed presets completely, or at least the best air to air options available for everyone alongside the current lineups.
Bringing your own plane is fine so long as it doesn’t give an advantage. If it gives some fun gameplay options that’s cool, maybe a bit of added flavor, but it shouldn’t be needed to be equal to other players.
Without doing anything wrong people are punished with more than full uptiers here, that’s just not balanced.

Yeah, this is the boat im in, just terrain masking low and fast with a nuke on the F-4 because there isn’t really anything I can actually do against a wall of Mig-29s
Thankfully years of playing the Tonka has made me quite good at that
They could have at least given an F-4 with PD for the US side.

Even for me B-52 is far better prize than the Tu-95. Alot ppl think like this, obviously.
Which would have been sound, if it weren’t for the fact players can drag in other stuff. So then the Mig 29 would be evenly matched against the preset, and still stomped by everything else, effectively making the America focused balancing even more harsh.
In the current climate, they either ought to harshly lock down presets or if they’re still inclined on permitting disproportionate air supremacy platforms on the side of the west at least permit a base flanker. Or a su 33 with a slightly restricted armament. Or my preference; permit a su 34 with an air to ground focused payload, as it would at least justify the asymmetric situation.

Which briliant mind at Gaijin balanced this gamemode? Why F-4E Phantom and Mig-23 have to fight 13.0 planes? Why F-14 IAF, F-15, F-18 are even allowed? They just wipe the floor with unexperienced players. Why Su-27 is not allowed in that case?
Either forbid taking your own plane or give russia more options to fight with.

Same can be said about MIG-29 and unexperienced players that are playing from US side. Though they should probably remove F-14 and F-15
