Nuclear Escalation: Testing the Upgraded Southeastern City!

Hi everyone! We’re working on expanding the selection of locations for Nuclear Escalation and the first candidate to join the list is the updated Southeastern City map!

Testing is available from October 7th (11:00 GMT) until October 9th (11:00 GMT) in the Events and Tournaments tab.

Updates to Southeastern City

We’ve carried out some significant revisions to Southeastern City. One of the most important changes is the switch to height-map technology, similar to how it works in a recent update to the Afghanistan map.

This technology allows for a more detailed landscape. We’ve also improved some terrain elements: the map now features detailed sandy and rocky shores, the mountains have more textured surfaces, and forests and villages have been added to the northern section, which previously only consisted of open fields.

Vegetation has also been improved, we’ve replaced existing models with new ones and the ground cover is now more dense, with trees appearing on mountain slopes as well.

The finishing touches include reworking the water color and adjusting weather settings to make the map look more vibrant than ever before.

More details about testing

The test will cover the same Battle Rating range as the main mode, from 8.7 to 14.7, using the same matchmaking rules and Battle Rating brackets that determine the ground AI lineups in battle.

We want to see how the mode plays out on this map in practice and decide on the next steps based on the results. For instance, we anticipate that the map’s smaller size might lead to excessive action density at top tiers, potentially requiring us to cap the maximum mission Battle Rating.

Play Nuclear Escalation on the Southeastern City map and be sure to share your feedback with us. Good luck and have fun!

cant wait for NE to be added to simulator battles

Can’t wait for NE to go down to be 5.7-14.7… These new bombers really need a good late props/early jets mode. NE, if made correctly, could do them a favour.

Is there something like this mode for prop BRs? I would love large scale air battles in a WW2 setting

But… no helicopters?

Its way harder to implement helis well into a gamemode like this than it is to make it fit a new map so im not shocked, if anything helis being added would probably end up being another test hopefully towards the end of the year or early next year (I can cope)

Need to nerf short range AA, they are too strong
If gaijin removes ‘ammo intercept’ for short range AA, i will be happy

Will there be any changes made to the AA so that they are not so oppressive? It’s bad enough on a 256 x 256km map let alone on one half it’s size.

BVV_d mentioned adding cargo mission logic to NE using helicopters (and potentially aircraft) in his post from last week and said they hope to add some of that stuff with the next major update.

still missing kai tak
I know it won’t do much (*cough cough Bagram Airport that used to have accurate airport then changed to cookie cutter default airport) but still would be nice addition

they could easily work on heli in NE with Southeastern City, given it does have Heli PvE version of said map

but yes still need to make the helibase to be more dispersed than Heli PvE version

so you already know it?

Why isn’t it a north-south map?
