Nuclear Escalation Returns!

9M317MA is ARH missile. With extremely steep lofting profile, so it takes single second of BUK radar (three of them, main search station and two TELAR with their own unit) to see you, launch missile and it homes on you on its own, courtesy of having stupidly strong radar with ±40km detection and tracking range. And this redundancy is critical, as SAMP-T site can be neutralized by just destroying radar station.

I personally don’t find any issue in the strength of Russian SAM/SPAA. It should be challenging, I hope Gaijin doesn’t nerf them to the point of becoming menial.

The problem I find is rather lack of Patriot/S300, and too easily beatable SAMPT. They’ll get knocked out early and then there’s several 30SM2’s, J15’s etc just hanging around at contrail altitude right above the frontline uncontested from SAM systems, launching ARH on people. Kind of ruins the whole dynamic of layered AA systems enforcing no-fly zones.

I’d rather see them remove some BUK’s and add S300 further back.

I think Gaijin made a mistake in only returning Nuclear Escalation to top tier. Top tier has significantly more powerful airframes and armaments available to the player, and rightfully should mean significantly more powerful AA systems. But it’s a pretty huge shift from what players experienced back in April. I think all of the gameplay changes they’ve made (except for removing the long range AA) would’ve been incredible in the <12.7 BR range - and had it returned at that same BR range with it’s respective SPAA it would’ve been celebrated by the community right now. Instead we have players unprepared and frustrated by the top-tier SPAA/SAM systems.

Seeing as how annoying the SPAA is and how the rewards were mega nerfed, I see no reason to play this mode over air realistic besides for the memes and or larping.

Yes, kinda makes it so almost nobody can give feedback to improve it(unless you have those brs anyways).

agreed. ItO 90M is way too OP. how do you even dodge 50G SACLOS missile? why can’t Gaijin replace it with something that uses IR missiles (like Tan-SAM Kai or something)?

They do, they just never touch it because it’s “dead” so people don’t join and keep it “dead” and it repeats.

SA server should be a lot better than the NA servers.

Im pretty sure 90% of bot hosters are located in PROC, so yeah.

Rewards are so bad even in an premium lol. You’re better off playing AirRB.

Has anyone noticed that the missiles launched by BUK into the sky, after losing their initial target, can continue to track other targets within their search range? That is also a feature, but the problem is that one aircraft can be attacked by many BUKs simultaneously, causing many remaining missiles to lose their targets and attack other blue team aircraft, leading to their immediate destruction right after takeoff if not careful.

Well all SAMs are OP even if some are more than others.
They seem to have a flaw if you go extra low (20 m if possible) and if you manage to go cold and terrain masking. It’s not easy ofc all the times and if there are fighters good luck with it…
The worst offender isn’t if ItO is good… is that it shoots through buildings and terrain and MANY times it’s bugged somewhere inside graphics (hill, road etc) and you can’t see neither the vehicle or the missile.

Is this mode some weird joke that i just haven’t managed to understand yet??

Tried it today and the experience is worse then i expected even by GJ standards.

RU SPAA’s are out of control, impossible to fly at any alt without getting spammed by SPAA or ARH missiles from RU team that can sit relatively comfortable at alt ( from my own experence )

This mode also shines a light on just how horrible A2G ordinance and lack of FnF the UK has at top tier.

All match watching RU team getting constant ground unit kills with KH 38MT’s and other missiles. US getting some kills with AGM’s and rarely seeing anyone getting kills on SPAA with ARM’s

As a game mode concept it could be fun but how it is right now its just straight up trash and something i’ll be avoiding.

You dodge ITOs the same way as you dodge Pantsirs and Tunguskas, by not getting in range or if you did, by breaking line of sight.

Then with these SAMs you get clear launch warning unless you bring airborne fossil of an RWR into the game, with IR based SAM, you not only will explode without warning, you would get taste of combined tracking suspension and gatewidth flare rejection.

Yes because when we play them they don’t work at 100%, RNG makes things happen.
If they make them AI , you’ll push flares-large , IRCM open , engines shut-off… they will still get you.
And it’s not even unrealistic , because in the game you don’t have ECM and EW suits , because they still have other methods to track you , not only IR.

Care to elaborate how ECM or flares would decoy SACLOS missile ie missile follows mouse?

Not the SACLOS.

But modern IR guided SAM units don’t employ only IR tracking methods and many of them have a mixture of IR and Radar guided missiles on them (NASAMS).

The comment was on that.

The fact I am not making positive SL with a premium is saying something. Positive K/D, negative SL. Put this mode back in the oven and let it cook, oh wait it already got burnt(yes I am making a cooking joke for this).
