I really enjoy Nuclear Escalation. The core idea and gameplay are great, but right now the mode feels fun and broken at the same time. The rewards are extremely low, and even when I destroy multiple ships and ground targets, I often end up losing SL instead of earning anything worthwhile. On top of that, the nuke carriers have no countermeasures, and their RWR doesn’t pick up incoming missiles, which makes flying them feel very punishing. Back in April, the rewards and RP were much better, and that version of the event felt far more rewarding. I also really like that we can choose our own nation, but some top-tier jets still struggle a lot, like the J-15T with only 24 countermeasures. Please fix this, Gaijin. Right now, it doesn’t feel worth the time and effort.
Dude how am i supposed to do anything the moment i take off i get missile warning from buk and it just launches missiles at me till i die, everything that i drop launch gets intercepted, after 2 games i havent died single time to another player just keep dying to buk, when i take a moment to look at kill feed the only thing i see is either russia aa intercepting everything or my aa/ground units dying, and servers are just dying but i expected it.
Great mode, it would be incredibly easy to fix too… too bad gaijin in 3 months litterally did nothing, apart from making already resolved problems come back
so turns out they didn’t do shit about the BUK locking you right after take off.
So when you take off the BUK already launch its missile towards you via TWS and when the missile reach pitbull (15 km) thats the time your rwr will be beeping hard. You can either try to shoot it down, notching have less success due to how fast the missile is and its current position towards your plane. Well done Gaijin, very well done. Instead of fixing the problem you just put a band aid on it and call it a day.
Also you can literally see the missile’s contrail coming towards you while your rwr is silent
Right now it is total BUKkake for the western team. Can’t really say if it’s easier for the Eastern as I lack the planes to participate.
Getting missile launches while still on the ground is insane.
You can’t do ground attack whatsoever because while you set up targets you get whacked. Standoff weapons get shot down. I have destroyed exactly one Buk TELAR with a HARM in like half a dozen runs.
The mode as such is amazing and would work entirely without nukes as well, and they generally there seem to be a lot fewer nukes being dropped this time, which might be connected to the lowered rewards. I made so much SL in April with this mode now I lose money.
I’d go a bit lower with the BR like 12.0 to 13.7 or so.

- 13.0+ is entirly stupid and im hoping its gonna be like sim where it changes every week.
- No one wants demon spaa that dont miss a single munition, never have ever since you buffed the ground spaa and never will.
- This is a tip, if your going to try and balance it dont give russia an spaa that far outclasses anything nato has by a stupid margin (pantsir). At most you should be using 2s6 and adats.

2S6 is superior to ADATS because it has a potent gun as well.
im fed up with it at 10.7, sure when you nerfed all missiles go ahead i didnt mind. But when you fix them and keep it at the same god damn br just to ensure your 10.7 premium money maker has an spaa then i get annoyed. And now the osa is a thing, a thing everyone has due to c&p, there is no need to keep it at 10.7. When everyone elses best is your literal second best then you have a problem.
That’s the funny part, when I play CAS (I use the Tornado GR.1), I fear the 2S6 more than an OSA. OSA cannot shoot directly above it and has a hard time intercepting munitions that are closer than 5km because the time between the missile launching and impacting at 5km means the missile can potentially miss its target while the 2S6 doesn’t have this problem, it can just switch to guns or technically aim nearly 90 degrees up to also shoot down people trying the James Strat.
ADATS has a harder time, it can ONLY lock a target at 10km. And then fire one of its missiles, this also means it is easy to counter an ADATS if you know where they are relative to your position and their missiles aren’t as fast as the 2S6’s are.
Hell we had calls last BR change to move the 2S6 up because it is better than the ADATS. There’s no reason the ADATS should be 11.7 when the 2S6 is 10.7.
That note is a complete lie. I’ve been bringing out 13.0s and fighting SM2’s every match
The Respawn timer for aircraft is absolutely absurd, especially considering that the AA is super oppressive. It’s either one or the other; you can’t kill players with OP AI and then force them to wait in a 5-minute timer, it’s like if you got a self-destruction penalty after every match of air RB, no matter the outcome. My suggestion would be to either limit the number of players per match to limit missile spam or have ordinance cost more. A respawn timer is definitely not the way to go. This game mode has some serious potential, but it’s really depressing how wasted that potential has seemed to become.
And its not like OSAs are completely useless against us, its just that most people using them are “slow”. Most of the time theyll spend their missiles on my pgms and bombs. The 2s6 on the other hand will kill me then take out all of my bombs in the span of a minute.
The 2s6 is the SOLE reason i wanted the alarm on the gr.1. Luckily i have the italian tornado so ive been able to use the agm88 against them and it is truly a blessing.
Honestly, I hope they expand this mode to more combined arms mode. Huge map with ground vehicles, helis and ships playing along with air units.

Im not sure ground can realistically be incorporated, but ships for certain. Having a carrier group go up against another with air cover would be amazing. Especially if we get things like the air genie and nuclear torpedo.
Leave it up to Gaijin to selectively balance the game again giving USSR access to 6 ARMs on the Su-39 at 11.3 but refusing to give Britain its ALARMs on the Gr.1 saying that it’d increase the BR of the aircraft lmao
And also Gaijin not giving the ALARMs to the Tornado F.3 Late despite F.3s having been modified in the Gulf War to carry ALARMs as well which would’ve given us a 13.0 ALARM carrier to bring to Nuclear Thunder. But nope, we’re not allowed to have nice things.
I have died trying to get off my airfield almost every time, either from r77-1’s falling from the heavens or from the long-range AA that seem to launch on you the second you get off the runway. I’ll admit I’m not the best player, but I should be able to get some ground target kills, right? Oh yeah, you can’t, the AA shoots down the missile. I very rarely get to fire off.
