Nuclear Escalation Returns!

I want to launch 24 JSOWs with the B-1B.

The aspect here is in the early-warning radar and other associated radar systems. In real life, anti-aircraft systems, especially SAM systems, are linked together, sharing data such as a target’s location and heading such that individual systems do not have to use their own radars for target detection, tracking, or even fire control. This information travels through a secure network specifically for this purpose. Any type of sensor can be linked given the appropriate networking; this includes everything from SHORADS’ radars and individual soldiers on the ground to strategic assets like EWR (early-warning radar) and AWACS systems.

The concept which I have just described is called an IADS, which stands for Integrated Air Defense System.

In real life, you would be detected by a long-range radar, who instantly pass this information through the IADS network. Therefore, as seen in War Thunder, SHORAD systems have the ability to turn their radar on exactly when they need to. Even if you flew extremely low, hugging the ground all the way to the target, you may still be detected and tracked by an OTH (over-the-horizon) radar or AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System). In real life, those systems would have to be taken out to disable this capability.

The NPC AA is annoying. I don’t like it. The first event had two very great rewards. Unique ones. So you just played it. It also had open flanks allowing you to bypass the SPAA horror along the shoreline or through the mountains.
But I simply can’t spawn into this anymore. Its too much beeping and SAMs everywhere. Also looks like Ru dominates the mode as far as I can tell.

Sure this is fine and cool except AA still gets infinite ammo and respawns in addition to countermeasures such as ECM and low observable air launched cruise missiles not being present. Additionally, strategic bombers such as B-1B could beadded as well to assist with SEAD.

Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion about adding helicopters to Nuclear Escalation.

I think it’s more or less clear to everyone that the War Thunder developers are actively preparing events for a World War mode, so I would like to propose adding helicopters for different flight-related missions in Nuclear Escalation.

The developers have already said that they are actively discussing the possibility of allowing players to use ships and ground-based SAM systems, so I think it would be worthwhile to also discuss the possibility of giving players helicopters.

First of all, I think many players would be interested in playing CAS and attacking ground units from helicopters. However, since the game already has quite versatile helicopters (for example, the Mi-24, UH-60, etc.), I would like to suggest adding transport-related tasks for them as well. For example, transporting infantry or supplies to forward bases so that vehicle convoys can start moving faster from those bases. Or, for instance, deploying infantry onto enemy forward bases to begin capturing them (I think this would not be difficult for the developers to implement, since both infantry and AI for such infantry already exist in the game).

That’s essentially my entire proposal. If you have additions or your own ideas about this, I’d be happy to hear them

I don’t know if you’ve seen it but they did mention helicopters in th latest information post about the mode:

(I also recommend using that thread for feedback and comments)

No, I haven’t seen that, but I’d like to start a discussion about how helicopters could actually be implemented. That way, the developers might take a look and think, “Wow, so players would like to see helicopters implemented in these different ways. Let’s do something along those lines.” Or at the very least, they could read through the discussion, see what ideas the community comes up with, and use some of them as inspiration for their own implementation

That is generally what that linked thread is for :)

  • The Pantsir-S1 for the “red” team has been replaced with the 2S6.

Given that tunguskas have something like 90% intercept rate of absolutely anything bar gbu-39, not sure if that’s a buff or nerf overall.

Didn’t this happen a few days ago? I don’t recall any Pantsir the last time I was on blue team.

10.7 spaa in 13.0+ mode is crazy

I would like to talk about game mechanics that could make the entire game mode more interesting that could also benefit a ton of different jets.

1st: ELINT

Short for Electronic Intelligence, this system allows for the location of enemy radar sites by measuring their emissions

this task is either performed by special ELINT aircraft or can be performed by equiping ELINT pods.

the ELINT system is really just a way more accurate RWR that can accurately measure directions of radar beams, record them and tie each measurement to a location of the ELINT jet. over time the recorded dataset allows then the triangulation of a enemy radar site. this is then done for every single radar of the enemy that gets recorded, the more data collected, the better!

2nd: SAR

Synthetic Aperture Radars are really just normal aircraft radar system that take advantage of the movement of the aircraft to generate high resolution radar maps, advanced ones are high enough resolution to even see vehicles.
the only “issue” is that these images are not live, they are updated periodically.

this however would greatly help in locating enemy stationary assets like SAM sites, depots, etc…

3rd: Jamming

Just give us Jamming pods and abilities to do support jamming of enemy radars to make strike missions easier
the april’s event showed that these systems actually worked pretty well on the B-52 and Tu-95

4th: Recon

My Biggest gripe about the event was that map markers that got detected would quickly disapear
so I would like to see a mechanic where you can do recon and keep the markers on the map
especially on static assets like SAM sites

you can update markers by doing more Recon or Bomb damage assesment missions to check if certain enemy units are still alive, or if they have moved.

a easy way to tell is by letting the player move the mouse over map icons and have a display on how long that icon ago was created
destroyed units icons are simply removed.

the base mechanics for that are also already in the game, simply port them over from ground forces and use Tpods

it also would make helicopters be really valuable assets

All these mechanics would impvrove teamplay and add some realism to the game for large scale operations.

Hello everyone, let’s talk about the future of War Thunder!

With the recent Nuclear Escalation events many players are left with the same wish:

Please make it the new main mode!

Combined arms with aircraft, tanks, helicopters and naval is the perfect concept to cater to all players, no matter which branch they play most.

Obviously to make it happen it will need lot of work. Balancing as well as server infrastructure is a huge undertaking, but it should be worth it!

Nuclear Escalation left countless players in the spot where they have issues going back to the old modes, as these have been played so much it has become stale. Some fresh wind is desperately needed.

Nuclear Escalation could be the perfect solution, if done right. It could make all vehicles viable, not only the ones that are best at directly fighting the enemy. Bombers could see a new light of day. Vehicles with special roles could finally play these out. The mode is perfect to build the future of war thunder around it.

Gaijin, please take this opportunity seriously. We beg you, let’s build something together!

thats kinda their plan as far as i know, theyre just refining it slowly

The future? No.
A neat mode for when I have over 1 hour of uninterrupted free time & am in the mood? Yes.

The moderately long matches are fine for the main game modes as it stands, and they allow for more players to enjoy the game in a realistic setting without a huge time commitment.

Either way I am looking forward to more Nuclear Escalation, it is my favorite long-form content in War Thunder with air sim in 2nd.

The past of wt. The classics. The true wt experience.

I think there is a time and a place for the standard TDM ARB we have currently, though there are certainly improvements that can be made by using assets from NT.

But I do think that NT, with some further work and refinement, should become largely the replacement for the current dull EC we have.

War Thunders biggest problem at the moment imo, is the lack of gameplay diversity, every mode just feels the same, even going from plain to tank or ship. The gameplay doesnt differ much. So being able to change the gamemode, would be fun (like say, basically any other online PvP game has)

And to infantry.

I call it the CoD trend.

it’s not like CoD it’s better problem is your gonna have a few people who want it to be like the way they want it but try to scream louder
