any german boat ever immediate death sentance
I’m only up to 6.7 on Germany, but I have noticed Bismarck is prone to exploding, I’m guessing it’s an over correction for how hard it was to kill Scharnhorst.
Ah yes, an other cool looking effect that my potato laptop cannot render :/
great job and thanks a lot!!!
You just gotta love how the roma as one of the worst “top” tier battleships has (like the richelieu) absolutely abysmal gun accuracy somehow (and thats just a guess coughcough: maybe so it cant hurt sojuz consistently with its very good pen…yk, lets make it so the shells never hit where you want them to, wouldnt that be fun ahahaha snail probably) paired with one of the worst reloads of any battleship in game…Reload is a (based on irl stats coughcough sojuz) soft balancing factor which interestingly enough isnt used as a balancing factor because then the sojuz wouldnt be the best at almost every metric anymore? If it is though…mind using it as a BALANCING FACTOR some day snail?
Yeah if that doesnt want to make you grind minor naval nations like italy and france idk what will.
What does any of that have to do with the New Water & Naval Battle Effects??

TBH its not too bad once you have quite good crew, just never gets old that the sojuz is running its shells and propellant constantly the longest distance of any bb from the magazines directly to the guns (no shells in barbettes) through barbettes that are on fire and all of that quicker than any other high tier battleship…now, that might be just me, but with my limited knowledge of how these ships worked id guess thats only possible if there arent any blast or fireproof doors in between thatwould constantly need to open and close? how tf does that even work?..oh dimitry dont mind that raging fire over there just keep sending shells up? and dmitry, dont worry about that fire reaching our magazines, in their infinite wisdom the designers of our ship put the longest distance possible in between our barbettes and the magazines so it will take ages for the fire to get down there so dont worry about opening those blast doors a couple of times?
oh dang wrong thread…im a bit absent and thought this was another naval thread. discard then
on the other hand what does anything in the 30 posts before and the post i replied to have to do with new water effects (which look very nice and are probably the thing im most looking forward to in the upcoming patch. Bit of a shame though that naval RB is a pointless gamemode and ec RB is only available two days a week so…)
Awesome changes
basically so according to gaijin fire can some how faze through bulk heads and go into the magazine from the barbette
if you take moment to examine the photo below you will see the magazine room of the bismarck which shows said bulkhead which all of the rooms are under the Turtle back meaning they cant damage the bulkhead unless they pen the turtle back of the bismarck
so if you hit barbette above the turtle back it cant send the fire into the mags due to the bulkhead
Spoiler

This very awesome changes to water !
I really hope mr snail rework ground / grass / flowers they look like PNG images with physics that would be nice if they also get a rework 🥰
Here’s the thing for me. The picture above this of a Yamato class, and the ‘new’ picture below with the buoy - indicate that this next update is going to be a major issue for my ability to even play naval. I generally know on this one I’m in an extreme minority, hell, I might be the only player with this issue - but I see a reduce range of colours, and ones that might not normally blend for others blend for me. Case in point the Yamato there - maybe others have no trouble telling where the middle of the ship and the water meet in that shot, I can only guess where it is based on the white from the ships wake. In the New and old below it - I actually lose sense of depth because now in the new one - I can’t actually tell some of those land masses apart. And these are Idyllic screenshot angles, that Yamato one in game will definitely be even more of an issue with the angles the actual aiming takes place from. Unless players pick the exact right camo that creates a contrast I can actually see (because until I actually see it, even a dark green against that water might be hard or impossible for me to see).
And unfortunately - this isn’t something I can fix by turning on some kind of colour blind setting, it just changes what I can’t see or how I don’t see it. It’s why I’m almost limited to Arcade not just cause of general gameplay preferences - but because I actually need the markers to see things at all in cases. If I want or need to play it, I’ll likely find some way to try and work around it - but honestly, why do y’all have to keep making changes that feel like they actually suck colour out of the game and make things blend more?
Does it help if you try and fiddle with the post fx settings? But i guess you’ll have to wait till the update is released.
Considering some of the issues I have on existing maps and all - no. There is unfortunately no game setting that can really help me, and depending on scenario increasing contrast is a coin flip - it helps during say the Halloween air race, where the darkened map as is I can’t see where I’m going without adjusting contrast and brightness, but not some of the as is naval battles with the almost fog effect some times present plus how some of the ships already blend depending on colours.
It’s why I hate a lot of modern movies, and in cases TV shows, with how they now shoot dark scenes and/or suck the colour out of things. Like - I know a lot of regular people complained about the ‘Battle of Winterfell’ in Game of Thrones not being able to see it, I can assure anyone that watched it back then you saw more than me. Parts of ‘The Batman’ were practically unwatchable in a similar manner to me. It’s just some issue I have and that even my grandfather had - certain colours we won’t see against others, some shades blend or don’t appear the same to us as it does others. On rare occasions it’s a benefit - it make take a colour that is more red-orange and shift it red or orange-red and shift it orange in a way it’s actually more visible, but more often it’s an annoyance with very dark shades of colour may be indistinguishable from black, or say the green bush and green on a camo paint close enough it blends for me where anyone else would go ‘how do you not see that’.
Exactly. Having those extra shell rooms in the barbettes which are less protected (because above waterline and above main belt) you’d think then those can get sealed off from the magazines because you wouldnt constantly have to replenish those and those could be flooded surprisingly quick.) With the downside of, yep, less protection and more likely to be fatally hit.
But no, according to the game the best way would be to store all the ammo as far away in the lowest floor above the keel and just keep them running constantly into the turrets, and because of the long distance you could basically go to the toilet when being set on fire and still have time to start extinguishing when you’re back? Thats supposed to be realistic? Laughable…Like loading shells in Tiger1s, Panther, T44s, Shermans and jumbo tanks from somewhere deep in the hull outside of the turret basket is apparently better than storing some inside the turret? makes no sense to me but maybe im overlooking something?
as far as i know bismarck doesnt have extra shells in barbettes for safety reasons all shells and powder are stored under the turtle back
There is no underwater penetrations for shells that drop near the hull(they just disappear immediately when contacting the water or ricochet from it), neither hydraulic shock from underwater explosions of bombs rockets or shells, so we have almost no options how to reach modules that under waterline, except long distance shots where shell hit angle is decent. So no wonder that ships that have their magazines under the waterline(especially changes one) survive way better, which not helping in balance terms. For that purpose of reaching low sitting magazines, devs reengineering and tweaking barbet fires over and over, instead of implementing physically reliable mechanics which could balance ships way better.
They honestly need to remove caps from naval.
And add a mode where you have to destroy 75% of the enemy fleet.
Aka players / bots.
Because I’m sick of matches taking 10 mins to find a game, then it’s over in 10 mins.
I want to play a 30 min match. I want to be able to use my boosters effectively.
I warned that “new weather” has its problems.
