Night time air simulation battles

I understand many players wouldn’t care for nighttime air sim battles, I seem out of the bunch. I would very much enjoy night battles in air simulator battles. For higher-tier vehicles, it would be cool to see NVGs for the player in the cockpit. Since high-tier aircraft have access to nighttime sensors like targeting pods with thermals, I believe some top-tier aircraft such as the F-15E (coming in the next update) can use its HUD, and I may be wrong, but also use its ground radar to show an outline on the large HUD panel for navigation and terrain avoidance. Not to highlight only the F-15E, but I’m not sure what other nations’ aircraft offer about sensors for nighttime operations, navigation, and combat. Targeting pods are useful when flying during the day and night, I doubt Gaijin will model the terrain mapping system for the F-15E. It would make sense since most top-tier vehicles do not have specific technology modeled in the game. It makes sense to keep things simple until the game is ready for specific advanced abilities, sensors, systems, and any other technologies that are used for specific purposes.

night battle and take off from carrier would be a good feature on sim

Can already do carrier take-offs, but its only naval aircraft (and unfortuantely everything is catapult launch, including the Harriers which is a tad shame, but a better solution than none at all I suppsoe)

Yeah, agreed, Just make it really clear in the lobby selection its a night battle and problem solved.

NVGs have always felt like the most pointless addiiton ever. So that would be awesome to actually get to use them, but also cockpit lights being a thing to actually bind to a key and having to think about reheat, not for fuel management, but because of the visual effect. Also flares being giant beacons telling the world where you are exactly. All things that would be really interesting and dynamic

My only concern is how well gaijin can handle BR restrictions for such.

We already get absurd uptiered AI planes in early korean war jets/post-war jets (CL13 sabres and scimitars vs hortons, banshees and the like).

I fear they’d just slap it into all jet games forgetting the early ones lack the capabilities.

Although indicating it in the lobby would probably help with that a lot. Hell, all weather/time of day variants should be indicated because joining some matches with boosters and wasting them is not fun.

Even old planes have instruments that function enough for night flying. And if you ever flew back when night battles were still in the RB queue, you would know it’s not completely impossible to spot dots, even without markers. It’s easier than in full cloud cover frankly, and once the shooting starts, the tracers are a giant beacon.

Yeah. I really really want more time of day and weather combos in Sim. (imagine a lightning storm at night Drools ) but yeah, I can see how that wouldnt be for everyone. But that would be really easy to add to the lobby card and is kinda stupid its not included on there already, even with teh limited selection we have now

Does make night fighters with radar rather interesting to use.

Even in evening/dusk battles, It’s can be practically impossible to spot planes flying low against the ground though, at least on some graphics settings.

I had a duel with a Horton in late sunset Denmark and the only reason I saw it from a higher altitude was because they took pot shots at me.

Spoiler

You think that’s bad visibility? I just left this match when I died, It was impossible to see a plane unless it was right infront of you.

I would play more night/evening games if Gaijin could get the sky and lighting right. But we already have involuntary night battles on any “Overcast” weather setting.
