Night ground arcade battles

i think it would be amazing if gaijin added nightime with random chance on arcade maps.

night makes combat much more interesting to look at and adds more depth to aspects of war such as lightning, fire, tracers or vehicle lights…

i’ve seen real life videos of war at night and there’s some beauty to it thats hard to explain

There’s a reason they stopped doing it - it’s not as much fun as you appear to think

i dont know, i think it can work quite well if some things are considered into the night mode for example adding destructible searchlights pointing at the skies randomly or even with IA as if they were AA bots for tracking planes to make it look like it did irl, the use of flares (instead of smoke grenades, a flare is sent to the artillery strike zone), replacing smoke rounds for illumination rounds if time is night, the correct implementation of vehicle lights and possibility for them to switch lights off if engine is switched off for ambush in corners, tank/plane wrecks having ilumination around them or vehicles which were set on fire, etc.

you could also set the assault to start at night just before sunrise and after one or two minutes light starts building up slowly until it’s daylight so it’s more of an advantage of the moment rather than an entire match

for foggy day it could be just a single huge smoke grenade at the center of the map that lasts for the entire match

Experiencing it in real life will reduce your enthusiasm for fireworks displays.

Night arcade mode kind of defeats the purpose of night battles, the groping around trying to identify targets in the dark, since all the players are highlighted. I agree with you that the aesthetics will be quite different than day battles…

You are mistaking some silly romantic version of night combat with reality.

Even night time exercises in peace are fraught with confusion and mistakes.

Night AB shows you the enemy, but you don’t see the rocks, the buildings.

Fog or smoke doesn’t add “ambience” it just makes the game awful.

Except for high tiers, no body can see anything.

It is available as an option in RB for BR’s above 10 - that is a fine place for it to stay.

Problem with WT nights that it’s too dark, no moon light reflections no late evenings/early mornings just pitch black darkness. And there is a brightness difference in first person view and third which also not helps.

war itself is very chaotic, even during daylight there are many incidents of friendly fire, night and fog exists yet people still go out of home on a daily basis and drive through these conditions in their cars so i dont see why it couldnt be implemented in a mil sim game just for the sake of making a match more different and/or dynamic, adding reflection of the moon on tanks or water, a lightning stormy night with ocassional flash of light to see far away, decreasing the arcade rangefinder detection to a certain treshold or make it appear briefly when a tank is firing could be a way of rebalancing it…

the problem with br ten RNB is the fact that many vehicles have night vision or thermals in that br so this kinda defeats the advantage or disadvantage that night could provide, if you were to go from zero to nv/thermals players would ofc realize it’s importance in modern warfare and rush to get the upgrade as soon as possible but low br night battle or fog seem like it would be more of a chaos, people falling off bridges into the water, colliding with structures, being forced to go slower or be more cautious, using their sense of hearing more often, fog would deter snipers and force them to go closer, disrupt airplane operations, etc

night mode in wt needs some tweaking but i feel like it could be amazing if properly portrayed
