Night atmospheric battles and different weather conditions (storm, rain) for realistic air battles, !at all ranks!

I think we have a lot of great lighting effects in the game, like the moon, the flames from the engine exhaust on piston planes, jet engines, bullet tracers, explosions on impact, and more. And all of this would look more atmospheric and impressive if it happened at night. Sometimes, for variety. And at the player’s discretion, by setting the appropriate flag “night battles”.

this + lights on wings and tail that are on actual aircraft

I literally had this discussion earlier lol
Fortunately we can pull it off in our event server but theres no rewards. just fun and a mild more balance than already in game

Heres a few screenshots of showing it off

Great idea! If they did this too, it would be absolutely amazing!

Very spectacular! The game is emotions. Emotions through the eyes, including. And all the effects of glow, explosions and shots, absolutely definitely look cooler at night!

The thing that comes to mind is the sinking of the Blucher in The Kings Choice
Would 100% recommend but that scene alone is the sort of vibe i wish naval had

Should change Cockpit lighting to just “Lighting” and have it effect both outer and inner lights. It makes the most sense really. also cool lights :3

Ideally they’re added together, as both are just simple visual (maybe mechanical) changes.

Those lights! If only they made them… I love the night and everything that glows. I have several neon signs at home and I love them every day.

This used to be the case until people got sick of not being able to see each other.

P61 noises!

😈😈😈

It is annoying time and weather aren’t used enough. Air especially, maps themselves have a more minor impact on gameplay, compared to ground and naval and as a result we have far fewer maps.

If time and weather were used more proactively, you could have some really interesting matches with the current pool of maps. I’d kill for night battles in high tier ASB. Make using AB a tactical choice not just a fuel management choice.

I know but please, W. F. Halsey, not again

If there were night battles at lower BRs (maybe down to 3.7?) there would finally be use for the early radar systems on P-61 and the Me 110s, the night bombers would stand a chance (because not flying in broad daylight!)… this would be AWESOME!

Night battles were terrible in the past as players could adjust PostFX to that level that it would look almost as day. If they changed that than, why not. Bad weather would also be great.

One thing you have to take into a count is that players with full DirectX 12 support would have an advantage due to raytracing (night and bad weather).

As much as I support this, there needs to be restrictions for what can be happening all at once. Can’t wait to get Rocky Pillars at a 13.0 in a full uptier with dense fog, heavy rainfall, and nighttime!

Air battles in IMC (instrument meteorological conditions) should be limited to those aircraft capable of actually operating in them.

Most a/c pre 1965-ish could not - hence you get “all weather” and “night” fighters as a description for many early jet a/c.

Such a/c were often larger than “day fighters” due to the need to carry bulky extra electronics and crew to operate them.

several months ago i somehow was in a night air RB match. i enjoyed it a lot, the tracers flying through the air were nice to see but the aircrafts themselves were near impossible to see but if they implemented the lights nearly all aircraft have while in battle i think it would make night matches more enjoyable.

YES!!! That’s exactly it

Agreed. I think it’s a great idea overall for Gaijin. Time goes by, and there is less and less new military equipment to introduce into the game, and everyone is tired of clones. They need to come up with and add something new in patches to please and surprise the audience. This innovation, I think, would be amazing and would globally “revive” interest in air-realistic battles.
