Mk.5 is unofficial designation, officially it is still Mk.4 (Merkava Mk.4 Barak).
Fair enough.
Is this a new vt-5 version?
Torpedo Testing Barge - YTT
…they will never expect a houseboat to try to kill them!
J-10A HUD needs to be fixed. It’s still using the antiquated J-8B HUD, even though it’s been confirmed to have a better system. It lacks target tracking in HUD and has no way to use EEGS. Gaijin doesn’t seem to be doing anything to fix it.
It’s the VT4 still
VT-4 / VT-4A1 … likely
Bug report it
no it isent im an israeli and our minister of defence stated it is the merkava mk4 Barak
it is not called the mk5. its mk4 Barak
I see, seems it was just an internet misconception from what I’m seeing posted about a “Mk.5” online with all these articles and such popping up. Thanks for clarifying!
wtf why ?
I’m not against other nations getting it, but the Merkava would literally have zero point without having that one unique thing because the Leopard 2A7A1 would straight up (in-game) be better than it at everything.

Merkava Mk. 4H
When the IDF trialed Rafael’s TrophyHV APS and Elbit’s Iron Fist APS, it tested both of them on the Merkava Mk.4. This is a Merkava Mk.4A which was used to test the Iron Fist APS. In the end, the IDF chose the TrophyHV as the contract winner, and it proceeded to be mass-produced for the Merkava Mk.4, making the Merkava Mk.4M. While the Iron Fist APS did not see success in the IDF procurement, it obliterated the TrophyHV APS in the export market, whereas the former had been exported to many nations while the latter was barely exported at all.
Ingame, Iron Fist is a much more practical active protection system than TrophyHV. While TrophyHV can intercept incoming ATGMs, Iron Fist can also reliably intercept HEATFS shells and sometimes even disrupt APFSDS shells. Iron Fist also has a superior re-repel time (the time it takes for the APS to re-ready itself after it intercepts a projectile).
Been waiting for this one for a while, it would be such an upgrade given the ability to minimize APFSDS pen at distance (and the current Mk.4M APS bug is making me desire it even more). But I gotta ask, why is everyone nicknaming it the Mk.4H? If anything I feel like it should be dubbed the Mk.4M (Iron Fist) ingame.
