Most nations were still fielding their WW2 equipment by 1950. I think that begs the question what would disarmed countries, like germany, get to start their tech tree with?

Depends what you want lmao we had the HK g3 in 1959 fn fal in 1956, Walther MP in 63 and MP5 in 66 and ofc mg3s since the early 50s ofc there were some Americans and British weapons prior to that but I only mentioned some of the German stuff (mostly German at least some are unavoidable lol) also forgot to add earlier some armoured forced used the mp2a1 aka the Israeli Uzi they were mainly for tankers and panzergrenadier from what i could find

yea but there M2A2’s , those are getting a bit old and outdated (1988) , and it doesn’t seem they ever got an upgrade.
so it would makes sence they’d be looking for an newer option.
