personally i love the way heavy SAM and big cruise/ballistic missiles look.
Leclerc 72
Spoiler
M1E3, the current model
Unmanned turret, autoloader, APS / C-UAS system, increased protection, and reduced weight.
was this unveiled new? looks good imo incomparision to abrams x, finnaly fixed turret ring issue lmao
I’m intrigued by the choice to go with rubber tracks. Even with the weight reductions surely it’s still in the weight class where metal makes more sense?
some what relatedly I wonder if they have given it auto track tensioning yet?
turret looks so ugly.
not final
wip
Definitely a mockup. Reminds me of the Dune event tanks we had or the PL-01. Sci-fi looking tanks are so ugly.
Edit: Found another image.
Do you live in my walls by any chance, as I suggested it not long ago
Taiwan rejected the Clouded Leopard II (D2 Prototype) due to lack of firepower from the 105mm but expressed interest in a 120mm version. If they offer a 120mm version with the same (or similar) turret, maybe we’ll see the turret option extended to the M60A3’s they’re upgrading. There’s already an M60A3 prototype being developed with the D2’s turret. This would be hugely beneficial. If they incorporate some type of soft/hard-kill APS, it would be quite the dynamic shift.
There’s a few of these now in service with the Russian Armed Forces.
this was denied by official, further evaluation will be done on D3 prototype. after all, with so many 105mm gun in service and the hardness of getting 120mm gun, it’s hard to say 105mm “lack of firepower”.
it’s the old M60 turret with extra armor, the D2 turret project is canceled, possibly due to being too expensive. After all, both turrets share similar protection(~300mm ke front) and electronics, why bother make a new one.
and the D2 turret is really ugly
Yeah Bradley had it beat in everything but speed and amphibious ability
and firepower (100mm gun)
true true. TOW is better ATGM than the gun launched ones but the 100mm is good for infantry support
Is this thing real?
