Built for the British as a Lightning II it remained a one off and was transferred to the USAAF for testing. Unusually it retained its British serial number.
One of the test programs saw it hauling torpedos skywards. Whilst I would love to see it in game I suspect it would languishing in the unused Tier II pile alongside the F6F-5 that lost its purpose when it got demoted.
It reminds me a lot of the Obj 490’s autoloader, M1128 turret, and overall similar to the T-14 Armata and AGS system, the ATGM variation seems similar to the I-TOW carrier and Strela MT-LB.
Looks like a sleeker mozy, i need it. Question is, will it go to britain or america… Arguments for both but i would prefer it go to britian, but i dont mind either way as i have both nations.
Based on prior precedents it will probably go to America, Britain has a surprisingly low portion of the lend-lease aircraft it purchased and an even lower portion of those made specifically for Britain as a customer.
Some argue it detracts from the US tree and dilutes the British tree, but I argue the vehicles wouldn’t exist without the UK as a customer and as a result of leaving these vehicles out, the holes the vehicles filled irl are left empty in-game.
(This is a statement about lend-lease as a whole, as for this specific P-38, i’m not too fussed).
With the m4a5 (Ram II) coming to us i hope we end up finally getting our boardhound, m22 and other such tanks. I dont mind the skink going to america but i think it wouldnt be fair on us if we dont get some of the tanks we ordered from them. Such as the grant being a premium for us… Along with other canadian tanks going to other nations.
