I get that R74M2 is the same practically to R74M is what you’re saying. But I’m saying R-74M would still be an upgrade over the ingame R-73 then.
My understanding is that R-74M2 (over ingame R-73) has:
- More range
- More gimbal limits
- Dual seeker shutoff + seeker fov reduction
- Datalink

Yeah I get that it’s not a real IIR missile irl, I don’t get how it would be bad ingame though when all the other IIR missiles would be downgraded to the same seeker as R-74M. In fact, R-74M would be modeled to be better than some missiles.
I think it’ll be a good sidegrade to IIR weapons, especially once they model datalink properly, on top of the seeker capabilities.
Because it’s worse then literally everything. Iris-t, asraam, 9x, p4-5 everything is more agile has a better seeker has a longer range r74M2 is just not good it’s a late 80s (if that) missile dressed as a modern new missile.
It’s not a bad missile it’s just the worse by alot of its competition

since the r74m isnt using seeker shutoff + a shrinking fov
the r74m uses a dual band seeker, comparable to what the stinger does or the Rafale MAW which is IR and UV
it is not known tho which bands the seeker of the r74m uses tho
2 IR bands, most likely MWIR and LWIR, as SWIR is rarely used, as its usability is limited.

9X has 2 way iris-t likely has 1 one (this is because sls is the same as air launched and has 1 one DL but Diehl or anyone else hasn’t said anything official about the air launched iris-t) python 5 idk tbh, asrasm doesn’t yet but it’s possible for the future

with an upcoming version adding it

How is everything more agile than R-74M, if I’m not mistaken it is 60G? 9X and Python 5 iirc are 50G right now. Also, like I pointed out earlier, it would be the same seeker as others, and I think you’re downplaying its range, probably on par with IRIS-T/Python 5’s range as they are currently modeled in-game.
