Damn I thought we were talking about J-36. Anyways, the line between roles is getting increasingly blurred as time goes on. Especially with the introduction of CCAs changing how even 5th gens will affect the battlefield.

They are blurring, yes, but Northrop is just talking out of their butt when they are calling the B-21 a sixth gen.
We obviously don’t know what role the J-36 and J-50 are going to fill, but the assumption is that they are going to be fighters, be it pure air superiority or multi-role/strike fighter.
The F-22 and F-35 fill different fighter roles, but both of them are still fighters at their core.
Except for the PT-91M ;)

Does anyone know if they’ve discussed updating the way AESA works in-game? Right now it’s just a really fast PD but I know they can be used to recreate an entire ground site in 3D and render multipathing near useless. It’s so silly when I can see my missile cross the threshold and act like I’m using some old src radar.
True, they tend to get creative with that type of stuff, but those projects usually get rejected or abandoned.
Like the B-1 they wanted to arm with air to air missiles, the naval F-117, the F-111B, etc
