At the end of the day, most of War Thunder’s issues can be understood if you remember that the primary game mode of War Thunder is Arcade (as viewed by the devs).
A few things to note about that mode: no split-nation matchmaking, so you can be in a squad with a US, GER, or USSR player and get a match (not possible in RB). So the “C&P problem” doesn’t exist when the main mode already has the same vehicle fighting each other just under that same flag.
And if we give it a proper look, I’m sure we could find more examples.

They have said there are a few decisions that are based on the vehicle in arcade mode. The biggest of which is placement in the research tree (hence why, looking at the trees in RB, they is some weird placements considering their BRs)
