because it is. i personally have no problem with it. but. and i say it again. but looking at gajin adding the 50/50 fake plane is not looking good for the game. because every time something like that get added.
its op.
F-16XL : destroy any plane at dogfight, have 2 second best missile kit behinde F-4KWS. and does have a fake radar that only existed after it got deny.
Fair enough. Personally I just really don’t like when things are misrepresented just because they weren’t completed. Anything that doesn’t have hard image documentation, even if it’s well documented otherwise, often just seems to be seen as variables that can be adjusted freely when it comes to games.
I understand that mistakes happen, but as soon as this is done intentionally I think it becomes an issue in a game that outwardly presents itself as realistic. There is people out there that get their information from here, which can very easily lead to misinformation spreading beyond just the game itself. So this should be avoided where possible.
That said I don’t really mind any alterations. If it’s clearly communicated what parts are fictional and why, then the biggest issue is solved.
Though I still think before going into fictional designs, Gaijin should first look for alternative completed and partially built options, and even if those don’t exist and there is a need they should at least look at accurate paper vehicles (like the F-23) before making a fictional vehicle.
Pretty much just the weapons bay. Iirc someone here mentioned AMRAAM testing with it, not sure how accurate that is.
So unless there is something I don’t know about, it’s an aircraft with no radar, RWR or countermeasures, which could fire but not guide fox 3 missiles. Not great, but that’s what you get from a demonstrator aircraft.
the thing with protype vehicles is that they are added with their planned production weapons even if the prototype didnt have the compatibility
so when the yf23 is added it’s basically going to be an F-23A
That’s fine for regular prototypes, but a demonstrator* like we see for most modern aircraft is not a traditional prototype.
Usually it’s physically unable to be armed / equipped without significant physical changes, and many times the production aircraft is very different from the demonstrator. They can pretty much be considered separate aircraft.

This isn’t a real destinction, technically it would still be considered a prototype aircraft. I’m just using demonstrator as a word to describe a prototype that is essentially a pure test aircraft that from the start is not intended to reflect the production airframe.
Example I found for YF-22 / F-22 comparison
At least for me personally, I think at this point where a demonstrator like this is made and they want to add it, there is no need to make a YF-23 almost like an F-23.
At this point I think the more realistic option would be to just add the F-23. Gaijin can always just argue that since the F-23 is the only intended combat configuration, this is simply adding an unfinished prototype like we’ve seen before many times.
