Yeah, this is a big issue in general. The way it’s currently set up gives each nation one line to work with, with the exception of Japan and Thailand that have to share the second line. This simply isn’t enough space for any nation to be properly represented.
There really needs to be a big rework, because if there isn’t enough space for the vehicles to be added to a tree that is a fundamental issue with the way techtrees are set up.
From a certain point of view they are right, they don’t directly replace anything.
But techtrees have limited space, and every addition takes up space that other additions could’ve taken. This is the case for every addition, but far more noticeable for subtrees because the competition for space is split across multiple factions.
Subtrees also bring more vehicles to add in the first place, without adding more space, which does mean that indirectly every addition takes the space of another potential addition by default.
And they can also add more of a complication with dedicated lines. For example a Malayisan line might not take up all the space, but it still effectively blocks Japanese, Thai or Indonesian additions because those would disrupt the theme of the line. This is the same way that a bomber line doesn’t have space for fighters for example, but again more noticeable here.
And I think Gaijin know this is an issue, for example Britain got a makeshift fix with the South African geound line being split across the techtree, then allowing for British light vehicles to be added that had no space for years before that.
Maybe this is an early sign they are looking into real solutions behind the scenes.
Technically, they can carry up to eight air-to-ground missiles. But from Gaijin’s perspective, there is a major plus: the L-29 could go to China, the USSR, Japan, Germany, Italy ( Hungary and Bulgaria), and—hypothetically—the USA.
