Next Major Update - Rumor Roundup & Discussion (Part 1)

It is an SM-6, just without the large booster.

I think Proto-EW/ECM (really basic implementation, just laying the framework) could be this coming major

can anyone identify the plane in the back?

Don’t forget the Sargent Stout. It would probably be one of the better ones since it has proxy ammo and a hemispherical aesa radar like the Spyder AIO with 360x65 degree scanning angles.

kinda reminds me of a Wellington

The data min about the towed decoy I think is a dead give away

Looks like a Wellington, dunno what else it could be

If we restrict the SAMs to be more realistic, shouldn’t we also restrict the players?

I don’t think the militaries would put full loads of A2A missiles on planes or let them fly with only A2G and no A2A weapons

It wasn’t even just a datamine, there were controls added to the dev server for firing towed decoys and similar things. Though that was probably a mistake, I don’t think they meant to reveal that so early.

not with that tail, its a twin tail the wellington has a normal one

Most likely not “atmosphere” but “ionosphere” and radars using this are also called “Over-the-horizon radar”, but these are really low resolution radars with a very low operating frequency (3 to 30 MHz), which is even lower than the frequency of radio broadcasting stations.

The 400 km range of the ship radars most likely applies to very high flying targets, because in 400 km distance a target has to be at a height of ~12,6 km to be above the horizon for the radar to spot it. Most jets can operate or travel at these or greater heights.

Edit: Interestingly “refaction” of electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere is a variable which “bows” the wave downwards and seems to make it possible to “see” targets below the geometric horizon. For the case of 400 km, the target can only be at heights of ~9,4 km to become visible. Over the ocean this effect is the strongest as the evaporating water forms something akin to a natural waveguide for radar waves.

That doesn’t look like a twin tail to me

Or is there another plane that you are talking about?

Well if they are flying CAP missions, it would be reasonable for them to just be carrying A2A missiles only, or with drop tanks as well. F-15s did this pretty often during ODS. And for A2G missions, I can’t think of any top tier planes that don’t at least have a couple of recessed missile pylons or wingtip pylons for A2A missiles only, so players are already forced to either take at least a small amount of A2A missiles, or just leave those pylons empty.

you see how there is no shadow in the between ?

Dunno, that seems like it’s just the lighting to me

I’m trying to find planes that would match the general construction of the Wellington, but with a twin tail and so far I haven’t found any close matches

I feel like this matches it pretty well

There was also a control for it in the last dev server

its because of the sun, its protectory would have shown if it wasn’t a twin tail and the shadows on the other side can only get explained because of the shadows from a twin tail, and the plane looks bigger than a wellington

Britain had no twin tail planes that match the shape of that plane though, at least not with just two engines and I’m not entirely sure what planes were operated by Australia

The Brigand doesn’t match it at all
The Hudson had a turret between the tail and the wings
The Halifax has 4 engines
The Lancaster has 4 engines

The Hampden gets kinda close, but the picture makes the fuselage seem pretty thinck and the tail seems to have a turret
