You know what time it is…
Nuclear Escalation:
- SPAA/SAM now only turns on the radar if there is an aircraft in the indicated range to it, otherwise turns it off:
- FlakPz 1 A2 Gepard (Stinger): 5 km
- FlaRakPz Roland: 12 km
- 2S6M1: 12 km
- 9A33BM3 (“Osa AKM”): 12.5 km
- 72V6 (“Pantsir S1”): 23 km
- ZSU-23-4M4: 5 km
- HQ-11: 30 km
- ito. m/90-M [SWE]: 15 km
- SPYDER AiO: 30 km
- if a vehicle has a radar but I didn’t mention it specifically, it’s 20 km
From the datamines, this could get rough…
This action should be tied together with the Nebo/AN/TPS-59 radars. As long as they are operable and able to relay information to the shorter ranged radars, the SPAA/SAM at the frontline can operate without active radars until the enemy comes within their engagement radius. However, if the Nebo/AN/TPS-59 radars are destroyed they would have to use their radars all the time. This would incentivise the destruction of the long range radars to make it easier to destroy the frontline systems.
Time for newsposting:

There is a ship in Mobile that has the same system*, but only the gun part of the complex is currently functional there. WT got missile-based CIWS systems first.
*and several more which have the missile-only RIM-116 system nonfunctional and hidden, plus the 3M89 combined gun-missile system in the files unused
The IAR-81C (DB-605) announced today is one of @NovA29 's creations - Bravo again, Nova !
Enlisted is adding an add-on armour package for the Chi-Nu II
It joins the M14/41 and M4A1 in having an uparmour package demonstrated there.
Oh great, so doing the exact opposite of what people were asking for.
People want AI SPAA to actually have their search radars on actually looking for targets to shoot at so that they can be tracked via ARMs or picked up by ESM so Gaijin has them stay off until you are well within their killzone.
Fantastic job.
Isnt this how its been for a while?
Though its really stupid, because it renders ARM basically worthless to ever actually take in air modes.
Their radars should be swtiched on and stay on most of the time, because well, the SPAA should have to find you first, not just magically know you are in range
I can remember seeing the IAR 81 DB 601 on G’99 sheet and just thinking “This is just abandonware at this point isn’t it” and then the legend dropped it today : D
I feel like it’s trying to get them to make use of their radars but in the most backwards way possible.
Back in the first event none of the SPAA used their tracking radars they just had search radars pinging you constantly and guiding in missiles with just SACLOS guidance and since it’s AI doing this it’s like console aim assist but even more effective which made chaff and notching useless.
Then for the second test I found that only the 2S6 was using it’s tracking radar which meant you could notch and drop chaff to evade but it never used it’s search radar. The rest of the frontline SPAA kept to the same thing as the first except for the ITO which often didn’t use any search or tracking systems.
Third time should’ve been the charm with having the SPAA use their search radars to find players and munitions and then within a certain range lock using their tracking systems in order to fire letting players find the SPAA and target them earlier and being able to defend against them.
But instead of this they will most likely just be turning on their search radar as they are firing at you purely on SALCOS giving you almost 0 warning and then just before impact turn on their tracking radar.
If I had to guess I’d say the devs can’t get the AI to work correctly, you can see this in the mission editor where AI just doesn’t follow any parameters that are set for it, you can set a zone for them to engage anything that enters and it will either start firing well outside the area or will just not fire at all.
Gaijin AI code has never been good, just look at the aircraft in ASB that struggle to fly in a straight line
There’s something in real life called the maneuver kill. If someone crashes or J’s out just because they’re too scared to face the enemy, it makes sense to count it as a kill. People should be rewarded for creating a circumstance where players are too fearful and panic and either crash or J out.
Yep, it’s either sabres flying mach 8, F-104’s with a turning circle of a Gladiator, or A-4’s that swan dive into the ground the second they spawn in.
Or the Sabres that attack naval targets that constantly go up and down about 100ft
Yep them too. The AI logic is in desperate need of an overhaul.
Yeah… has done so for years, but looks like Gaijin has just picked the lazy option for NT
Yeah, Ai is AI regardless of gamemode, just ASB has them more often
i know, a su-24 was going mach3 once
Yeah, that is one of the most hilarious examples, where aircraft are somehow able to achieve not just annoyingly high speeds to intercept, but speeds beyond that of both the aircraft itself should be able to achieve or anything in-game to actually catch it.
Once spent like 15 minutes trying to setup an intercept between an AI recon Sabre doing about Mach 1 and myself in a Javelin. Was not fun
i have encounter Mach 3 su-24 a lot of times, the most memorable one was when i was a MIG-25 and i couldn’t catch up to him
Wish would get more AI targets and better behavior for them ^^
Yeah, just going on from the AI on what we’ve got being sensible. Its a shame we no longer have targets like Bridges, Trains, etc in-game anymore, likewise we need the introduction of the ammo depots or other buildings into actual games (Would love Refineries or similar type targets in ASB) or even just static radars, something to actually target with ARM, even if they did nothing else
