my lack of normal ping was due to my ISP being down
don’t know how to put the spoiler on, but first one was when it happen, the other one is 10 hours later after it was fixed. Just glad it didn’t do this during the testing, or if NT was back but it cost me my day off
@Smin1080p_WT in the Heavy Cavalry changelog it was shown that Striker’s optics would be changed from an ahistorical 4x-8x to a fixed 10x, correctly matching the capability of the No.43 Mk 1 sight present on the vehicle model. This change to Striker’s optics has (personally) resulted in a change of playstyle, necessitating a more rear-line role in order to remain effective.
Despite now having the correct optics, the ingame Striker still has ahistorical elements such as SACLOS guidance and the thermal channel which was introduced with the Barr & Stroud Combined Sight in 1984. The CS sight meanwhile has 2x-10x day and 2x-6x thermal channels, and would much more effective at close and medium ranges than the current sight.
Similarly to Archer, this vehicle can have a steep learning curve for new players, which is reflected in its consistently low win rates (46.43-51.17%, Feb 2025-present).
Will Striker’s now somewhat reduced close and mid-range usefulness result in the addition of Scouting, in keeping with its role as an air-portable reconnaissance vehicle?
Could the TT Striker (which is visually a pre-production model) be replaced by a late Striker or Striker SWIG, and be removed for new players?
Might Striker (and FV438) finally become MCLOS guidance, as they actually are in real life?
Beyond the recently-revealed Scimitar Mk 2, is there a plan to continue the addition of CVR(T)-series vehicles to the game, with for example with a late Striker for Britain or Belgian Striker for France?
Oh, and is there any news on Night Battles? Any idea what percentage of players opt into NB?
Personally I think the BR 10.0 limit is very high, and frequency of Night Battles is very low. Rather than restricting this game mode so heavily, as players have the choice whether or not to engage in them is there any work going on to develop Night Battles into a larger part of the game?
A lot of vehicles have image-intensifying (non-thermal) Night Vision which almost never gets used, and the entry of NV devices into armoured warfare is barely reflected in gameplay.
I did the report by its visual model, an early one hence the now slightly worse sights. it is a messy mix of early and late aspects which make no real sense.
would appreciate a model swap to a later one, keyboard guide swingfire would be awful
MCLOS is a first-generation control system for guided weapons, it’s supposed to be difficult and the BR should be reduced to reflect that.
Yeah, and while you were correct it has made the vehicle worse in most situations due to the close ranges found in game. Scouting, BR review, MCLOS and BR drop would be more helpful to Striker, and the space is there given that the UK currently has 3 vehicles in that line at 8.3
I thought about it a little more and maybe they should have spread Thai Indo and Malay across the right three lines.
Fighters in the interceptor line, attackers/strike aircraft in that line, and the 3 or so bombers in the bomber line. And maybe the Hornet as well.
Make the tree look like its still arranged by role and rather than by whatever snailGPT hallucinated up.
Sure, but Swingfire was never SACLOS. It entered service MCLOS and was upgraded to ACLOS in 1990, retaining MCLOS control as a reversionary means.
By all means send the FV438 down first, but I’d rather see this very early Striker at 7.0-7.7 with MCLOS and Scouting. It really would change its role in game.
I don’t know what you mean but “ACLOS in MCLOS control”
The fire control system should be historically correct as far as the game allows, both FV438 and Striker should be MCLOS. If an ACLOS mechanic is not yet in game then SACLOS could be used as a placeholder, but only on a correctly-modelled 1990+ Striker.
As for mobility, adding Scouting would make Striker much more versatile and would mitigate its very situational armament.
Questions are taken from all over for standard Q&As. There is no one singular place we collect from. With the exceptions of the occasions where its pre-announced like the last one on the WT YT Community page.
