like I said, don’t know if the details changed from the old design, the old design with dual pause rocket and aesa seeker is a PL-15 equal
I mean equal is not same, its larger edge fin will cause some extra drag but not a big problem, still a equal.
As for PL-12A, not much information, just know it uses PL-15 level smaller guidance/warhead section, possibly no dual pause rocket.

changing to WS-15 requires some structure change in rear frame, so not a easy job.
WS-10 version won’t change in short time.
the delay of WS-15 is partly caused by the great improvement of WS-10C series and changes in new requirement like higher electricity generation capability, the old standard WS-15 is no longer that good for future.
but it’s still done, twin-engine test flight in 2023, and mass production version few days ago.
as for WS-10C, it’s said to have much more version than just C1 and C2, C1/2 is separated by changes in nozzle.

They have been used in combat, were offered as long range components that could fit internally for the su57, as currently the R-37M & neither R-77-1s cant fit. (They have a Izd.810 being made in the process which is like an R-37M but with clipped fins and further upgrades)
Anyway, it is a counterpart and from the outside missile seems to reflect capabilities, as well it was made in mind, to give the 57s long range defense capability. Just like 120D3s are 200km range missiles.

it’s said that 2 adaptive cycle engine projects based on both WS-10 and WS-15 is progressing smoothly, not much behind the progress of XA103
like I said, old design, many years ago, now only secondary sources can be easily found, but I think it’s enough, just some simple googling. so many years passed, I think the project once stopped and restarted, so hard to say what changed, before any clear image for comparison.

I mean it was going to be a ramjet designed missile for long ranges.
But since the felon came into mind, they needed lesser diameter and overall internal storage, so they went with a dual pulse system to be able to cover for extreme ranges. It is currently much more popular than a ramjet missile, and on top of that provides high G load for the missile itself. Something Russians quite prefer having maneuverability
The felon ones are mock ups years ago, but since then the design has remained similar to what rhe su35s have been spotted with.
no, I think ramjet one is another project, dual pulse and ramjet, ended choosing dual pulse, what I called “old project”, the competition ended long ago before dual pulse R-77M’s design is released.

now, after more than 20 years, we know most of them didn’t go beyond argumentation/demonstration, even no prototype, and PL-15 came in 2015. Russia is supposed to have a similar period, researching ramjet then decided with dual pulse, just stuck with making R-77M functionable for years.

I didnt really see any mockups older at the time other than the felon’s event of 77M, thats why those pics kinda depict a different scenario, unless we have some information for the competition. Not disagreeing, not necessarily agreeing either. i think they were interested either way in both for long range circumstances for range.

I mean if stealth is as meaningless as people say it will be in terms of in game (leaving IRL aside for a little bit) than there is no reason to not give at least the US and China their next gen IR missile.
There is also no need to limit these nations just to make sure the EFT nations and Rafale stay ahead of the competition for yet another year and please their ego.
(Reminder that the US and China haven’t been relevant at top tier air RB for slightly over a year lol. And coincidentially the EFT and Rafale have now been at the absolute top for just over a year.)

oh yeah I know it will heavily depend on how stealth is modelled realistically it wont matter much and the new planes will probably be food for the EFT and Rafale, but knowing gaijin they will make stealth just bubble where radars cant lock onto them (looking at LIRDCCM)

I believe he’s talking about how stealth is modeled and in this case he’s correct, it wouldn’t be modeled liker LIRDCCM like the original post he was replying to suggested as a possibility.
Its a manually set multiplier value instead of the regular one used for radar detection of small, medium and large airframes in game.
