Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

they’ll be competitive among R3R and AiM-26B on Off the rail performance

the R-40 can only hit targets manoeuvring at up to 4G so you might be fine if you dodge at the right moment

I’m a bit bummed out that the MiG-25 is (likely) going to be the first soviet missile interceptor we get in-game. Would have loved to see the older ones first…

Su-9 and Su-11 (not the ones we have in-game)

Unless you are in a Harrier. If you arent at max speed, 8+ flares at 3km in rear-aspect wont defeat an R-60M. You would need to throttle down to idle to defeat it. And even then… not always guaranteed.

R-24Ts seem to be fairly resistant to flares in my experience.

My experience is the opposite of that lol

Read what I wrote again and show me where I said they were weak.

i gotta love playing stock mig23 and face this hydrogen bomb

Spoiler

Hmm… Ive had issues flaring them in things like the Phantom before, even with throttling down.

I’ve had them go for launched missiles over afterburning targets many times, and I don’t carry them in the Mig-23 for that reason.

Bro I tried spading the phantom fgr 2 and that is the most abysmal thing I’ve ever played

2.5g actually for R40r/t and up to 8g for the R40rd/td.

They love to go for the first flares they see and often cannot decide what target to actually follow due to their huge seeker FoV

At least that’s my experience as the one using them

The R60M is worse in every aspect than the AIM-9L, the R24T is good, yes you won’t be able to run because you’re in a subsonic plane, take a Phantom FGR 2 and go after the MiG-23, why do you think a Sea Harrier should beat a MiG-23?

IIRC the FOV is quite small, so you need to flare earlier rather than later. As it gets exponentially harder the closer the missile is.

these 50% sale made me quite 10.0 to 12.7

Yep, thats been my finding.

Fired late, maybe using IRST to get close in SB. There is little you can do against them if you spot them late or the situation is unfavourable for flaring them.

I’ve had one swap to a teammate in an AMX that was flying about 5km behind an F-4 with it’s afterburners going. I feel that AIM-9B’s get flared less than R-24T’s.

Because they are at the SAME BR in ASB.

Both are 11.3.

Though your argument is that the Mig-25 CANNOT be any higher than 11.7 because it would be unfair in an uptier against 13.0s and maybe even 12.7s forcing it to be more like 11.3.

My argument is that 10.3s and 10.7s, let alone maybe also 11.0s vs the Mig-25 would be just as unfair.

You cannot use the argument of “uptiers would be too hard” to justify sealclubbing in downtiers.

They should go straight for a second or two then start tracking. It should function kinda like the R23r, but with far more acceleration.

Eh, if you get jumped by them flare and pull hard, they have poor all aspect. Basically treat it like an R-24R but drop flares instead of Chaff
