It didn’t. It was forced to, and then bombed by France right at the end of WW2 and MOSTLY engaged in a lenghty resistance and independence war against France.
It would be like adding Finland to the Russian tech tree. But even then, at least Finland has a significant amount of Russian equipment… With Algeria’s case, there’s really no reasons to tie it to France. And to do so would simply be disrespectful.

Initially, I thought the African Union Tree wasn’t the solution. But now I consider it a good option.
Alternatively, some Algerian vehicles could also become Russian tree premium/event vehicles. But there is such an interesting lot of vehicles that we would surely be missing a lot by not making Algeria a major sub-tree.

That’s the logic I was thinking + people using them as a excuse to add 1 to 1 copies of vehicles to another tree while ignoring unique mods+vehicles was very irritating.

The 10.3 was a gap, people had no access to an IR system at the time IIRC or a good proxy fuse SACLOS system. Players asked for the vehicles as there were versions being added to Italy and IIRC Germany(?) at the time, so gaijin went “why not?”. They also explicitly told us that Rapier was en route.
People seem to forget when we had starstreak only which only some players could actually use.
The Starstreak was fine, there were better options, the Rapier never was gonna be a 10.3 SAM to begin with, etc etc
For you and me sure, but anyone who had a less than good internet connection living idk, in a rural zone for example would be out of luck.
It explicitly required you to have a good ping by the basics of how computer latency works. If you didnt have a good ping, you were in the struggle bus with it. Like, thats not even arguable lol, its physics xD

Biggest reason why I’m still annoyed about the OSA and Strela to this day is that they will serve as an excuse for Gaijin to pull when asked about when we would get the Cactus
