Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

Yeah, quite true

Genuinely, the JCP has a fascinating history.

This shall come true ☝️

Some of these aren’t exactly the same and bring some unique flavor to them

Many of these could be made different by giving them unique loadout options, like the Su-27/30 or B-26. Others are just directly different variants with their own differences, like the BMP-3F or M109A4. Some of them are also functionally the same, but still variants we don’t have, like the B-33 or BVP-2.
And that’s not even all of the unique options here, in a list that was specifically made to point out only vehicles already in-game.

Gaijins problem is that they don’t care to put in this effort. They’d see the Indonesian Leopard 2A4, a Swiss Panzer 87 modified for Indonesian use that is identical to the 2RI besides missing the add-on armor, and just copy over the German Leopard 2A4. They don’t care to make the small details that would make the game so much more interesting in favor of how easy it is to add a specific Thai service Stingray to two nations.

With Thai vehicles this is the exact problem.

  • The Thai F-5A used AIM-9P in active service, we got 9Es because it’s just a copy of the US one.
  • The Thai Alpha Jet is fixed with its engines now, but used to have weaker engines Thailand never had because that’s the model Germany had to copy over, and it still has the wrong rocket pods because of it.
  • The Thai M60A3 TTS shouldn’t have the clean turret sides and extended smoke launchers, those are meant to fit an ERA package Thailand never had. This one is even worse because the reason it is like this is that it’s copied from the ROC M60, which in reality is the same as the Thai one, but in-game isn’t because it’s just a lazy copy of the US one with the ERA removed.

I wouldn’t strike out the F-16 eMLU and Alpha Jet TH Phase 2 here, both are unique Thai modernizations. Even the F-86L should probably stay since it’s not in game yet.

Thailand’s F-86L is also a little more unique since they actually fitted the Sidewinder kit to it.

If the Mi-35 & current Thai Ground is anything to go by im sure they wont even model the hull correctly if it were to be added

(top is the Leo2A4/pz87, bottom is the 2RI)

I think the most difficult part is trying to bugfix these issues especially for munitions, our record-keeping is incredibly subpar at best and nonexistent at worst.

For instance the bug report on the ID Mi-35’s S-8 rockets, they were supposed to be the S-8KOM rather than the S-8KO, minor difference but still inaccurate nevertheless. The sources for it was the Army’s actual news website, where they announce things, and yet it was closed because it has not enough info.

Which is what I find to be a bit annoying, because they’ve implemented something that isnt exactly correct, we try to find the available and safe source for it (which are often not formal documents but rather things like verbal interviews, news article, information provided by the armed forces themselves, etc. but it can get denied and remain incorrect because of said lack of source.

And btw its not the only thing wrong with the Mi-35, but I’ve already expressed my discontent with it plenty of times

Pretty sure the Finnish 2A4 has the same armor on the side skirts as the 2RI

Only have an old image of the 2A6 but iirc it has the same rear wheel armor gap

Different armor layout, 2RI has an improved hull protection

Was more so referring to the rear side skirt armor so im hoping gaijin at least models that correctly. I knew the front was different

Overall armor its similar to the Leo revolution yeah?

ah i misunderstand you meant the fenders/fairings

Yeah i couldn’t remember the English words lmao, and not like i would say Fenders in Danish lol

Pretty much, you do get a drivers camera but given its FCS it would be put between the 2PL & 2SG, good choice of ammo for the future though since we’re planning on using SHARD on it

Ooh very nice, always loved the look of the revolution and when the 2PL dropped i was happy. I hope we’ll see more of them since i love the wide body Leo’s

Huh, I thought the Indonesian 2A4s all got the same changes as the 2RI aside from the armor, good to know there’s more differences than that.

Still the Indonesian 2A4 would bring the same upgrades to the turret drive, gun and FCS, so for gameplay relevant changes that would at least translate to DM11 for it. Maybe more, but I can see Gaijin not wanting to push the BR for it.

And I hope it would get a unique visual model as well, since looking at the M60A3 TTS it seems to be impossible to report issues like that. The ROC has had the tank for years and it’s not only unchanged, but copied over to another nation that would also need the same fixes.
But at least for the 2A4s we already have a few with unique models so there is hope.

It could even add a (very minor) bit of extra armor

These clips on the turret side are used to hold track pads, the same ones seen on many in-game Leopard 2A4 hulls. There’s also one on the turret front.

I didn’t even notice the huge cas nerf where bombs on fighters are being treated as attacker SP costs

So uh, what is there to expect in the next update? Any planes perchance?
